Ross has sent me some magazine and a few photos, which are worth sharing.
I thought Ross' thread of his sons photos a good place to start ;

Here are the front and back covers of the " Sports Car Club of New Zealand Inc " Special Edition magazine issues 1, 2 and 3, from 1984, 1986 and 1989 Richard Gray was the Secretary and Editor of the magazines, lots of articles on NZ built Specials and Kit cars. ;
1984 Issue #1,
39169

the ad on the back - remember this shop ??
39170

1986 Issue #2,
39171

Back cover Emersons and Chevron .. great names in small production cars and specials ..
39172

1989 Edition #3,
39173

Ads on the back Honda, Fraser and Heritage Andy Culpan who later ran Race FX
39174

an huge article written Ralph Watson himself on his cars and their construction and histories.. very detailed account of the Lycoming's racing events results from 1956 to 1968 ; could be worth its own thread - will look at what has already been posted !!
Checked through the events and one of the first race meeting I went to in my own car in 1967 is the Hamilton Car Club Grass Track meeting at Waharoa Domain.. remember it well, and the drive home when Jim Boyd, after having had a couple of wins, decided to drive home in the Lycoming and the tow car and trailer a Zephyr 6 I think, followed, they both went past my Mini, like I was standing still ..would have been at the 50 mph and they were doing 75/80 mph !! those were the days

Ross Hollings has sent me some more photos, 3 of a meeting at taupo early 1990's with a group of Bucklers, one of his Humber 80 special, with a De Joux [ Buckler style ] body and couple of the 500cc cars at a Club Circuit meeting - unsure if also Taupo early 1990's.

Here is waht Ross wrote ;
Photos of Bucklers taken at Taupo,original small circuit 90,s,HRSCC Xmas meeting.
The Red Buckler in foreground [rear shot] is an interesting car,was not built till 1973 ish built by Ferris De Joux from a original Buckler chassis which G Mayo & Son had hanging in their roof in their factory.This chassis was used to make the original jig as Mayo,s had the licence to build Bucklers in NZ.It has a Coventry Climax Motor. Graeme Brayshaw owned it till recently selling it to his son -in -law.Nice car.
The band of little F500 cars is at a club circuit meeting 90,s run by the Auckland Motor Cycle club and they invited the cars along.I raced the Nat Special there powered by a Triumph 650,next to Ralph Watsons cars.[Good shot of Ralphs car in Rays section]
.Hope they are of interest.
PS Photo of my Humber 80 Special,De Joux body. Restored by Roger Munns,some say it may have been the Norhland Special but never verified that. Ross

The first Lotus looks like a 79, next photo, the black coupe with wire wheels is probably a type 14 Elite, a 7, no 23 is a Lotus 18, then looks like Jo Siffert's Lotus 49 in Rob Walker colours and a JPS 72D or E. The sports car next to the Cortina looks like a series 4 Elan Sprint hardtop...Lotus 36..
