...a Kiwi won the Monaco Grand Prix, tended by his Kiwi mechanic Cary Taylor.

That was Denny's first F1 win and Chris Amon's first GP for Ferrari resulted in a bittersweet result - third, so 'a podium' but the terrible accident to his team mate Bandini.

The other significant thing that happened that day, it was upset by Graham Hill getting getting second place in his Lotus.
Bruce McLaren was fourth in his McLaren BRM M5 the best place a McLaren had had in a Grand Prix till then.With Graham getting Second it stopped an all Kiwi podium. The first win for Bruce was in the 1968 Belgium GP at Spa.

As Michael states a bittersweet result; The best result for New Zealanders in Formula One and a tragic loss of Italian driver Lorenzo Bandini.
(Some of this is very hard to watch but surely some safety standards were improved after this incident.)
