Hi All, I've been meaning to share these slides with you for a while now after finding the perfect site to do so.....These were all taken by my father Max back in the 60's who was a good friend of Red Dawsons. Hence there is a collection of Dawson slides through the Willy's and Cooper/Brabham years. Also (bear with me as I transfer them over) there are some fantastic shots of Graham Hill, Jimmy Clark, etc when they raced at Puke GP.
Look forward to your comments.
Enjoy. Reece Killingback

I'm pretty sure that the black Mk1 Zephyr with the cutaway rear guards was owned and driven by one Spinner Black. He sold it to Alan Pearce of Taupo in 1965. Great shots Reece. Looking forward to seeing some more.

Nigel- you are correct about the black MK1 Zephyr.
I have a pic from Puke 4th April 1964 showing it sidelined at hairpin at Puke ,cut out guards are covered with something

One of the things that I recall about Allcomers in the 60's was how rough & ready they were - and these photos confirm that. Nothing fancy like today. Must admit I prefer smooth straight panels and a nice paint job anyday.

Post #18 pics won't show either :(Yep, sometimes it takes a couple of goes, don't know why as I'm not doing anything different....but I now know to check and fix straight away if neccessary. Should be good now, Cheers, Reece.

John,
Perhaps Spinner had been told to cover the rear tyres so he added these custom flares as he is seen here hounding Ivan Segedin in his Anglia at Pukekohe.

Reece, Yes it is "fun " and I know that sometimes other people cannot see the photo's because of their own system or server, especially if viewed off a phone or tablet, rather than a Laptop or PC
These photo's are brilliant as I mentioned, many thanks to your Dad and you for them.
From what was probably the " Best "time in NZ Motor Racing late 1950's into the 1960's and 70's ..

PS will be living in your neighbourhood from April onwards at Omokoroa, we should catch up somewhere some time ,
Nigel Watts is close by too and a few others from TRS - maybe form the BOP " TRS Club ".. Cheers

PS don't drive quite like this these days, too old too slow .. and the car still exists

Hi Reece, I used to work at Paine Motors in 1973/75, we had a branch on the great South RD, opposite the Breweries..that was Otara Branch. We had Recond Engine department there. The one in Otahuhu was opposite the Courthouse. i know some race cars were driven unofficially on the side / back streets back then.....usually when Ernie Seath had gone past.
