During this Carona shutdown I have had a chance to check some old photo cards, thumb drives etc. and found some that did not get entered the first time around.
Forgive me if I do repeat but some scenes of Laguna are better than no racing events at all.
The first one reminded me of the day in September 1972 that I had gone to Trojan Works in Croydon, London, to be interviewed for a job as a "gofer"and as we ate lunch a truck pulled out with a brand new blue McLaren M8F on the back on it's way to be sent to the States. It turned out to be the last McLaren vehicle to be built by Trojan.
At Laguna Seca in August 2016 I once again saw this car for the first time. It was in a different shade of blue but it was chassis numbered 9-72 which stood for that September 1972 production.
It is still a magnificent machine as are all Can-Am cars from that era.

Nothing quite compares to the thunder of early Can-Am cars on the front straight at Laguna Seca.

The quickest Can-Am cars at Laguna Seca, August 1916 were the Shadow UOP machines.
Shadow Team founder, Don Nichols, attended at the grand age of 91. Sadly he passed away exactly one year later.

Don Nichols can be seen at the rear of this 1971 Shadow Mk. 2, wearing a black cap.

The 1954 Porsche 356 # 23 driven by Australian, Ron Goodman, certainly was entertaining as it came though the field from 36th (last ) place to finish in 9th place.
Here is Ron moving up to pass the 1957 Chevrolet Corvette # 91.

It always helps me when there is a description of the actual vehicle.
Such as these two vehicles beautifully restored by Bruce Canepa.

When I went to Europe in 1972 the Ferrari 312 PB cars were very dominant in the World Sportscar Championship.
Here is some information from Laguna Seca. 2016.

Here is the actual car # 15 driven by Ernie Pribe. 1971 Ferrari 312 PB.

April 1972. I was getting ready for my big OE in June that year.
You may have to magnify them but I found these Kirk F. White Auction prices pretty interesting.
I think the 1969 McLaren coupe is one of the three that Trojan built.
66132

66133

It would have been nice to have tucked that 1965 Ferrari 250 LM away and sold it at one of last year's
Monterey Car Week auctions. (Not sure of what is happening there this year yet.)

Austin " Bantam " - 1938 2 Door, tudor !.
Would be the Americanised Austin 7, actually made in the USA, by the Bantam Company - looked a bit different to the English 7's which by 1938 would have been a Ruby.

Used to be a bantam in TeAroha back in the 50s/60 neat little car. Bantam also won the contract to build the WW2 jeep to their design but could not produce enough so lost the contract

The 1969 McLaren GT did not sell at the April 1972 auction for $ 9500.00 so at the next auction which was held on my 24th birthday, November 25th 1972 the asking price had been lowered to $ 8000.00 (US). I wonder what happened to that car ?
Is this the car. ? Well worth the $ 8000.00 ! (WOW )

Just think Roger, 10 years earlier you could have had a McLaren M6 GT for 8 grand US.

I feel blessed that I have been able to visit there a few times over the years.

Interesting group with the BMW " 420 " - the 320 body with 4 litre V8 from the 5 and 7 series- understand they were banned after a season, as BMW did not make a Road Car ..
