I had a few beers with a well known ex Kiwi racer from the 60's and 70's a couple of nights ago. Who is he?
Clue. He now lives in Fiji.

I must have made it too easy.Curly-you get the chocolate fish.
Yes-it was Ross Greenville. He lives in Denarau and an be found most nights at "Cardo's" restaurant and steak bar at Port Denarau.
He is an avid golfer and was the first person to achieve a 'hole in one' at the Natadola golf course when it opened. Hard to imagine a more affable and pleasant person.

I haven't sussed out who you are yet RF84 - anyway, does this mean I can keep the game going?

I had a drink yesterday at Pukekohe with another very affable man - top driver in tintops in his day. I asked him 'did you ever try a proper racing car?' and he said 'a few laps in private practice in a McRae...'

Who is he?

DJMcD.......it's easy when you know the answer. I'm sure you could think up an obscure question that would stump these two 'brains trust'.......eg..... Question........ Formula 1 driver uttered this gem...'Some of these drivers think their mirrors are for shaving'. Who is/was he?......maybe the brains trust can answer that one!!

OK, so it seems as though the questions are about NZ drivers. I'll start to do some digging.

Congratulations Americakiwi........this little gem was said by Leonard, the second of the five Wood Bros. They honed their skills on Stock-cars as distinct from Indy cars. A.J.Foyt was very dismissive of them at first, until he saw their pit work. They used their brains as well as their brawn to hone pit work to a fine degree. Americakiwi....are you an expat Kiwi? Probably being a bit unfair asking NZers a question like that, but plenty of people follow Indy, so though someone WOOD know!!!!!!

Yes, ex-pat Kiwi in southern Virginia where I met Leonard Wood, totally coincidental to this thread but I was a Jim Clark fan

from way back ( which is where I originally heard of the Wood Bros). I'm living in the part of the south famous for moonshine which is mostly illicit for the best tasting stuff, of course I avoid it when I can which is not often.....

Donald, I recall Graham McRae claimed to have put the first wing on a car - the red twin-cam. I don't the answer but I'll start the ball rolling by guessing at Kenny Smith.

1969 Teretonga International event. Roly Levis reckoned they were dangerous - he had them on upside down! The mystery driver asked for the dimensions, none forthcoming so decided to use the day's programme as a measuring device.
