Then it started to rain, so I hope there were no incidents. Once again, I missed Oldfart, so not sure if he was there as I didn't make it down to the paddock. Meanwhile, there was also a TACCOC meeting at Hampton Downs with a custom car show included, so spoilt for choice - particularly as Targa is also on at the moment..
No Ray, Oldfart was not there, he had issues with the tenants in his rental at the Bay of Islands which prevented him from attending (and after he had paid entry)
To ERC OLDFART and others, I am trying to track down a guy Lyle Chambers, member of the Waitemata branch of VCC, who owned a BSA car, a special which started out as a 1930's saloon and was converted to a sports car with tube chassis with the original front and rear suspension attached has a Ford 10 motor instead of the BSA but still front wheel drive, and a very basic body, it ran a supercharger for a while, Lyle owned it in the mid 70's and still had it in about 2000, ready to be retored. has naybody seen the car or the owner ??
cheers
Roger
Hi Roger, we are doing a bit of homework for you. North Shore branch, not Waitemata.
Fantastic photos Ray, thanks heaps for posting them.
By the way, what is car #14 in Post 3?
Just wondering about helmet rules.....the chap in the Sunbeam Roadster doesn't appear to be wearing one?
Some great photos of some lovely cars there.
Car 14 is the Speedex - the forerunner to the Marcos (my car's baby brother...) - Jem Marsh's company before forming Marcos.
Non helmet cars were coming back down the hill (Sunbeam) or in the case of the lovely white Riley, a non competing car. I could be tempted into buying one of those (Riley) as my days of competing in the Marcos may well be coming to a close. Maybe being the operative word...
Thanks Ray, great info. Have the wheel openings been massaged, or is this how they left the factory? Nice looking car, almost like a miniature Echidna.
