Riley did own the D-type, but never raced it, buying a Lola Mk1 instead
Roger Harrington will be the man more familiarly known as Roy Harrington
I never realised that Roy Harrington, more known as an Imp man dabbled with Minis, perhaps we now know why!
Yes and Roy played with Morrie Minors before that
In the early days at Ardmore Harrington Morris Minor and John Windlburn Ausin a30 were the guns..On a very sad note Neil Cunningham has mns ? I met him at Taupo about ten yrs ago then at Puke he spent a day on the hill in my Motorhome ,the cars he was driving at Le Mans ect. amazed me D Types Astons,, he was stunt driver in James Bond as well a few weeks later a package of lovely photos D Types he was driving arrived recently was with Top Gear, another D Type driver Win Percy another real nice chap was last i have heard was in a wheelchair caused by a disc being removed from his back {they removed the wrong one!!!} about two yrs ago now hopfully he is recovering
OK, Been awhile. can we get all three.
only one image so far your mate fastest man in an Austin A 35 at Ardmore always last out onto the track in later yrs John Windlburn
You got him Jim, Talking with Fred Courtney the other day and he gave me the photo, his comment "it is so close to not coming back" and that WAS full lock. May spend some time with Fred and put a history of the car together. John took the V8 out and put it in a coupe apparently.
Note the safety. Nice sunglass's
Wow, that photo is fricken awesome!
Rod, check out the post I put in on the Northland special, it also appeared in Historic racing mag. It may give you a starting point!
Stu, apparently it was a hillclimb at PuhiPuhi north of Whangarei in Northland, John lived in Maungatoroto and it was around north of there.
Looks like a real hand full Jamie
