Many of you will know the name Steve Hildred. Steve has raced a beautiful red HT Monaro in circuit racing for the past twenty or so years. He was also the main driving force behind the Central Muscle Cars series and the main guy to beat for years before all the really big spenders started arriving.
Long before he built the Monaro, Steve ran this wild Chevy V8 powered Viva station wagon on the quarter mile. I wonder what happened to this car? I have a very vague recollection of it being shown on tv news crashing with a later owner. Or maybe I just imagined that?

This was crashed at the S bend bridge in Chapel Rd by the little church. That corner was the scene of several bad accidents in the early 70's that took at least half a dozen lives, one alone took 4 (some I knew). The Shelby sat in Kaspa Motors wrecking yard in Otahuhu for some time until the remains were used for the speedway car .Quote:
