I reckon so, also I'm pretty sure that's Peter Lodge with the Abe Lincoln beard hanging onto the rollbar.

Moving on now to the famous Kerrs Road in Wiri, South Auckland, which was probably the most thriving of all the street based strips. I've already posted a few pics from Kerrs Road at random, earlier in this thread. Here are some more.

Pretty sure this is Baloo, with body removed.

Owen Campbell in the Jimmy 6 powered car that used to sport the Willys body. Note high-tech ear protection for the officials!

Couple of early speedway Sprintcars (or Modifieds?), trying out a little drag racing. Note they're still wearing their smaller left-side wheels. Must be a wild ride trying to run them straight down the strip.

McConnachie brothers rail. I assume these are the same McConnachie brothers who raced a '69 Mustang in speedway in the '70s?

And a Mk2 Zephyr before that at W.Park.
They were great days - Kendall in the Pink Pussy Cat Prefect with a T-C Lotus. Brilliant/
And also wild dirt track days at Riverhead.
The drag rail was not Barry, it was his younger brother Graham/Graeme.
Super Modifieds was the pre Sprintcar name. These are Super Modifieds.
Thanks for the great info you guys. Keep it coming! Any help with any details on these photos is always appreciated.
Really enjoying this thread Steve, there's something very NZ about the vehicles/creations and the variety of engines used.
#91 looks like a Mk2 Zephyr lump with triple SUs, although they aren't on quite enough angle to be a Raymond Mays head.
#91-They had a Mays head on Barrys MK2 dirt track car, NZ Hot Rod mag did an article on this rail.
My friends and I thought it was the same motor that they swapped.
He also had a very nice Popular that he ran at least once.
Pontiac straight eight- Ponty Power.
Glad you guys are enjoying these.
