SCANZ - Those were the days!
New to the forum! Register yesterday, introduction posted this morning.
My (Eugene Boyle - formerly of Te Aroha) first memories of SCANZ go back to Bob Hyslop at Manfield in the early 1970's racing the JRM. I attempted to join in the fun, albeit briefly in 1983 in a Mallock Mk4 (now owned by Gavin Bateman) and a MK 8 (now in the custody of Brian Service -HRSSC). Realised that I was trying to " ... go to a gunfight with a knife ..." so I retreated to repair the Trevor Larsen damaged Rhubarb 2, but a divorce intervened and put threw everything up in the air!
Still they were great times. :D

Around 1969-72, Des Joyce built & ran this nice lotus - U2 type with a Ford 1340cc pushrod, It was a chassis that had been started by another guy, but was never completed and Des took on the task, like his later cars it was always immaculate, fast and reliable.
David saunders , who worked for des at the time ,later owned the car and wrecked it in race somewhere up north. the whereabouts of the cars remains are not known.
