AHCCNZ events - Healey related photos, by Mark Donaldson and Ross Cammick
These photos, some of which have appeared on other threads belong here.
They are from AHCCNZ events in the late 1970's and February 1981,
Mark Donaldson's pictures of me driving my Uncle Eddie Dowding's LHD Rover 3500 at a gymkhana on Bruce Belton's farm, near Waiuku, what was Franklin County, South Auckland. February 1981
Attachment 34671

Attachment 34673
a Gymkhana event which may have been at the Bruce Belton farm. I am unsure, but remember it was near the water in the Waiuku - Glenbrook area,
BSA Healey and Sunbeam, a mixed lot at AHCCNZ events, as many Healey owners had cars that were not mobile, two of the guys in the photo actually jointly owned a Big Healey at the time that was more or less a chassis with some parts. BSA owned by Lyle Chambers [ sitting on Bill Povey's Healey beside Bill's wife Kathy ] and the Sunbeam owned by Richard Leaper [ peering into the Healey ] Bill also looking into his Healey ( passenger side ), Judy Leaper sitting on the Sunbeam.

The BSA being driven by owner Lyle, passenger not known [ not remembered ].

Modified Healey's, two cars that have spent most of their time - repowered ..
In the AHCCNZ there are two well known Healeys that we re-engined quite early in their " lives ", the Valiant Healey owned for many years by Bernie Huynen, pictured here at Napier in 1984; have had a drive in this car, wasn't very successful at it though.
Attachment 34734
and at Masterton in 1989, on a Hillclimb
Attachment 34736
Another well known car is Reg Whittaker's 100/8, a 100 that was repowered in the early 70's - [ with a V8 Buick / Oldsmobile type around 215 ci or 3500 cc I believe first ], has had several different V8's in it over the years, here it is in 1976 at New Plymouth. never driven it but have had a few rides around Waiuku in it with R O W known as Reg of Waiuku .. Reg was a School teacher and lives his life in Waiuku, he was instrumental in getting permission from the locals for the AHCCNZ Otaua Hillclimb on Maioro Rd, Reg lived in Bothwell Park Road, which was close by
Attachment 34735
Both cars have spent most of the time with the repower in place ..
the 100/8 is at the right in this scene at the Devon Motor Lodge

AHCCNZ events - 1987 National Rally at Rotorua
Time sequence is all out, as scanned another set today and started in the wrong envelope, was supposed to be 1980, but here we go with 1987, also at Rotorua, which was the venue of quite a number of the Annual Rally's.
Chris White's 100 M [ replica ], a car often seen at Healey meetings and in classic racing.
here it is sans Roll Bar and all the safety stuff, screen up.

a 3000 and Chris White's 100m with screen down, a great look but in many ways a dangerous option.
