I wonder what the nicely-spoken Mr Whitehead would have had to say about the Dunedin circuit he raced on 2 weeks earlier. Parts of the street circuit used there were never sealed.Quote:

Whitehead was not quite so genteel in his younger days. The report of the 1938 Australian GP(*) at Bathurst (unsealed in those days) makes interesting reading - local dignitaries being pelted with cabbages while speech-making!
