Ok John, thanks.
Not sure when but I will be in touch.
Ken
Cant really tell from this sized image, but maybe an Austin?
December 1975. Bay Park.
Before I came out to Taupo this was the last race meeting I had attended in NZ.
I know it is a repeat but I never tire of looking at them.
Are any of these cars besides Ken Smith and his F 5000 Lola still competing ?

I hope you all get to enjoy the meet at Hampton Downs this weekend.

Dennis Running in his 1979 Mazda RX 8 # 8 seen here in these fine Nigel Watts photos.

The other entrant not able to be at Taupo was Wayne Baxter in his 1986 Holden Commodore # 16

(Thanks to John Pope and Phil Schubert for these photos.)
Chris G , spannerman for Fat City let me copy pictures from his album.
Goes back quite a way, and shows how the car evolve.
This is the Falcon Coupe that Jim Richard first raced at Manfeild in the mid 70s.
It is a genuine RPO83, making it a very rare car.
Craig Pullman owned for a while , then sold it to Phil Schubert.
Also featured is Craigs next car- XBGT, black without the Darth Vader trim from early 90s.
I will not give dates, class run in but people will know the track.
Ken has posted these and John Popes Falcon Coupe, Paul Torclers because we never tire of seeing these old car pix.
White/ Blue Torana was Allan Fergusons, later owned by Glen Ellingham
From John Pope on last pic where there are 4 Coupes-
". Heres a photo taken around the same time and on the old Taupo track sweeper, 4 falcon coupes Phils is just coming into shot from the right.
It was the last lap of a a reverse grid I overtook Alan under brakes and squeezed between Vern and the other coupe to take the win."
The red Coupe could be the Falcon Engineering Coupe from Hobsonville, it had a large sticker on the rear quarter with the bird and company name.-Steve Woodward
However ,there is another red XA Coupe- Kevin Allely, John says the KA bought his motor when he was stripping it to sell, so this may not be him
Paul Torklers red Coupe is number 45.
John Popes genuine Cobra #121 is towing his XAGT Coupe
Yellow XAGT is Darryl Lucas who has said he would like to run with us at MG Manfeild in November.
Wow, awesome photos guys! Here is JR in the Falcon GT RPO 83 at Manfeild in 1975 as mentioned by John above.
Attachment 53724
The startline at Puke with Torckler and Schubert on the front was John Popes first big day out in his green
XAGT. Sedan
Definitely fair to say that Falcon Coupes were the car of choice,( still are !!!!!!!!!!!)
Attachment 53825
Front of John Popes car coming through on the left.
Craig Pullman 80, Phil Schubert 81, Veen Smith behind.
Attachment 53826
Red Coupe with QWK351 is John Popes
"
I was so young looking for my age back then I thought the moustache made me look older
That number plate came off my 4 door XA GT that I had brought back from Aussie'
Attachment 53827
You know this is an old race meeting by the 6 digit telephone number
john Popes XA GT Coupe number 59, looking very original with correct wheels.
Check put the infield, ....no Strong Bros double decker bus.
Drivers were given stick on numbers which is why the sides look bare.
Attachment 53846
John Pope in full song, unlike a Charger behind him.
Attachment 53848
John Popes XAGT Sedan first time out.
Attachment 53849
3 must be Phil Schuberts car as it is the only one that has ever run the scoop on the lower rear quarters...and still does...Driver unknown here.
More stick on numbers here.
Wonder how many of these are garage queens now
This from Popey-
"Think Green GT sedan was Dennis Hogan, George XY next to him Phil (never saw anyone else drive his car when I raced him) then me and possibly Kirk Benge yellow falcon before he brought the Coupe"

Steve Woodward Coupe just behind Phil in 2nd pix, sand dunes spell Baypark in the sun.
Ouch, tough day in the office with some nasty frontal damage, looks like Vern Muller - with red cap-looking on.
Strange to see Craigys XBGT in original body shape
John Popes XA staring to look a rear race car, must be after Wnenuapei accident as it is in Cobra kit
Phils car showing development with scoop and front splitter

So here is how 81 has evolved externally for racing over the years, and also ,as can be seen from the surrounding cars, The Coupe has raced with all manner of modern machinery, it has won a lot of titles, the one that sticks in my memory was the Rod Coppins Memorial trophy for 1993 at Baypark as I was running in this also.
2nd to last pic shows the previous cobra rear spoiler and front splitter
last pic shows the newer rear wing and the front splitter ....these can now be seen on my Blue Coupe.
Rear wing is the same as on Craig Pullmans car and both were made by Barry Algie in early 90s.
They were copied from Kevin Waldocks Bathurst entry Falcon...pix to follow...when car was being made at ProAction.
Many thanks to Chris Ganley and Ken for these postings.
Kennards purple Cortina at Baypark in front of Craig, and who is behind him- names anyone ?
Whose is the red Mustang 2....cant be John Popes, his is black
Ralf Mossnan number 5?

6x Sequence photos taken in 87 I think, Taupo old track
The next 4 Sequence photos I think was the same meeting different race race.
I was chasing Veen hard riding his bumper and he had a half spin in which we nearly collided, avoiding hitting him resulted in me spinning.

White XB is Wes Kidby, Chris Maxwell in the Z. Chudleigh Haggett Honda Civic
Does anyone know where these red Coupes ended up-
1-Paul Torckler.
2-Steve Woodward.
3-Kevin Allerly
Great thread - neat seeing the pics of the Pulman and Schubert Falcons. I met these guys when I worked at Pro Topline. The pics of Craigs Rod Coppins Z car are cool too
The mustang is Rex Findley, ex pinpac group a car.
The RX7 is Warwick Mortimer
Kennard, cortina
the mk2 escort name escapes me but maybe south island car (Dave mc) ??
grant brennan next, and maybe the halliday datsun bluebird.
Second pick is Brett Wilis, Kerian wills in the RX7 (is original rotary form) ,then greg lancaster in the volvo

Top set- Addis, Willis and Meadows.
Early days for Phil at the clothes line at Taupo.
The team running Fat Cty...Phil Schubert- in racing suit- and Chris Ganley in the sunnies.
These 2 have been together with the car right from the start.
Neat to see successful combinations like this...other long term combos are Roger Davis and Vern Muller. Their spannermen have been there from the beginning.Makes so much difference with reliable, consistent help. Lot of people have dropped out because its too much for one person.
Next pic show current rear wing and front splitter.
Still a straight bodied genuine RPO83.
Last 2 pix are the Waldock/Peters Falcons done for Bathurst at ProAction
Barry Algie in 1993 was copying the rear wing and legs-with some modifications to follow the Coupes rear quarter line- to make the same for Craig and Phils cars.
Has the Gurney lip at the top back.
Mustang is Rex Findlay, beside Rob Kennard is Dave NcNaugton (with my spare wheels and tyres), behind Rob is Brennan, beside Brennan is Steel in Nissan and on angle up track is myself. pretty sure this was practice and held up for a bit.
Roger, think Rex got Mustang of Robbie Kerr, it was green when Kerr ran it.
So Rod,
You park your car at an angle on the track and then get out and strut along in front of all your adoring fans ?
You are / were a brave "bugga" indeed !

Good looking as well Ken, pity you weren't with me, we would have emptied the stand.
And think that is Don Halliday in Datsun beside Breenan, Warrens car was blue.
Kerr raced his car in Sports Sedans and it grew little flares.
