Actually, looking deeper this is probably not the same car. While it is a Vintage Red/Tan trim R/T E49 it has been with the current owner for the past 40yrs in the NI.

It would be interesting to hear more about the car. It appears to have quite a rare combination of Vintage Red, bonnet black outs and tan trim.
Absolutely! The Tony Warren Ford family saloon even has a tow bar...
Excellent and thank you for posting those BMC. Really grateful to see some photos from the day.
It had a cosmetic restoration and then made its way from Auckland under new ownership down south.
That is fantastic! Many thanks for those. We are still seeking photographic records of the #90 Charger that was raced by George Bunce in that Feb 1980 Production Car race, so hopefully something will...
Great photos! That's the earliest photo I have seen of the Trevor McLean Charger. I understand it to have arrived in NZ around mid 1973, hence the plates GM1048. Most racing images show the car with...
Yes, exactly and we were of the opinion it had been supplied through Bond.
That is very true. We pulled an homologation Charger E38 out of a container in 2003 in Toowoomba still fitted with a half roll-cage and racing harness that had been fitted from new. (Car now in NZ...
It amazes me to see the cars racing in NZ throughout this era without the requirement for roll-bars. The Sutherland Charger was certainly squashed.
Thank you for putting up the entry list Milan.

Any idea who was driving the #53 Charger? Geoff Sutherland perhaps? Along with this one and the #31 Hammond car, were there other Chargers entered?
An excellent book Steve. Petrolheads and the also excellent Kiwi Muscle Car Collections both delivered to me as a surprise here in Aberdeen, Scotland. Also have Petrolheads In Sheds...
Hi Brad,
Great to see you've not given up in your research and great racing pics you've posted. We discussed our cars that are surprisingly similar a few years back. I got there eventually, met up...
Currently living in Scotland, though from New Plymouth. Biggest motorsport interest is in the production racing of the early 1970's and find the history and provenance of these vehicles as...
Thanks for posting that Milan. From some old notes I found, it appears that the Limelight E49 I referred to was that of Allan Scott. I had heard mention that there was a dead-heat for first in the...
What a great site. I stumbled upon it yesterday and joined straight away. I'm currently living in Scotland, though will be back in NZ very soon for an extended period.
On 3 February 1980, there...
