Yep thats the car, and my dad Roger at the wheel, Michael, that would be about right, had a test day in late 2015 before leadfoot, also had a quick run at the MG Classic meeting at Manfield in Nov...
Thanks markson, The car was #67 from Shaw to baker, then #22 from then on. It is now restored and circulating and made its maiden appearance at Leadfoot last year. #68 is Pete De Lore who also built...
Thanks Chris, The Jim palmer connection came from the shape of the rear cover. I spoke to him once and he told me how he modified the rear cover of his, and it was quite distinctive. Do you have any...
Thanks Ross, we thought about that, but the body had a NZ registration label on the body by the roll hoop, you can see it in the first photo. One can only then assume it was on a actual car.
Thanks Stu. The body has a 1971 registration label, so was obviously used at some point in 1971. I was having thoughts that it may have been the body from Jim Palmers 22? The metallic gold colour...
Hi Jac. We have the plum body also, that was the original 20 body. This body was a 22 that was metallic orange, then had the above paint scheme under it. Will try and track the photo of you and bill...
Righto folks, I would love to see if any one remembers this car. We have restored a lotus 20/22 ex tony shaw, graham baker, Dave mitchell, bill McCabe. My father bought the car from Ian bisman in...
Hi Guys,
I need a 3 core radiator for my 67 XR GT Falcon, 289ci V8, looking for as close to original as I can get, as the car is all original, and the one I had out while rebuilding the motor...
It had steel wheels and skinny tyres, but after a couple of broken axles had to do something so mini lites and hankooks it was..... and maybe a bit of vanity in there too :)
Hi OF. Despite looking quite modern, the buckler is still running all the old gear, drum brakes etc nothing too flash, hence the reason for the engine rebuild as the current driver tends to push a...
A couple of photos of Dad in his buckler. Restored it in 1990 and raced it hard for the last 20 odd years. Just in the process of giving her a bit of a birthday. (and maybe setting up for a new...
This man doesn't need a beer he needs a bottle of tequila through an IV line. I bet he was glad he wasn't wearing a period helmet though!!

Thats the best bit of motor racing I have seen in a long time!
Cool photos. Love the early single seater photos. Will keep an eye out for either Tony Shaw or Graeme Baker in my Lotus.
I would pay. I like the idea of a motorsport focussed auction section as Russ suggested. As a 29 yr old I missed out on all the good stuff and trying to find good books etc, without having to spend...
check out kart 115, some serious camber on that front wheel! Methinks wheel failure imminent! Looks a hell of a lot of fun, and could be quite cheap!
Thanks Amerikiwi, We have been through the NZ drivers, its just a matter of finding the owner/driver between mid 1962 and all 1963, in the UK. The programmes may be more helpful than anything.
Thanks Stu
Have sent PM, thanks for letting me know in regards to the Buckler.
Definitely keen to see uk pics and programmes etc especially formula junior and f3 between 1961 and 1964 as my lotus 20 was racing over there then. Came to NZ in 65. Keith st John was last owner....
Hi Bob. According to Graham Vercoes book Peter Harrison from Rotorua bought it off Keith Roper.
Thanks for the pics David and Geebee, I think the hardest part will be finding out who had it and a timeline for it before it ended up with Merv Hunt, then found on a farm.
I will have to get a copy of the book or get someone to scan the photos for me. Hopefully David can shed some more light on the situation
Hi David and Nodiff, can you tell me if it was built by or for Keith Roper?
Give me CMC's, Historic Muscle, F5000, Hist. Single seaters and Sports cars, bring back SS2000 or shellsport and throw in toyota racing series and a Allcomers class and I'm there. I watched the...
