The start with Angus Hyslop of Hastings, Cooper-Climax 2495 cc, Maurice Stanton of Christchurch, Stanton-Corvette 4932 cc (No17), Tony Shelley of Wellington, Lotus-Climax 2495 cc, Barry Cottle of Dunedin, Lola-Climax 1098 cc, (No57). Bob Eade of Auckland, Maserati 250F 2473 cc (No23), Chris Amon of Bulls, Cooper-Climax 2495 cc (No38), John Histed of Auckland, Lola-Ford 997 cc (No33), and R.H. Smith of Auckland, Ferrari Super (?) 3430 cc (No34).
RESULTS:- 1 st Angus Hyslop, 2 nd Chris Amon, 3 rd Barry Cottle, 4 th John Histed, 5 th R.H. Smith, 6 th Maurice Stanton, 7 th Bob Eade, with Tony Shelly retired.
