BMCBOY, amazing stuff, Ross your camera always did better than mine ever did, so good to see the photos, more please, am growing the moustache to match the 70's ones of me, cheers R
I worked out Doug Cross's MER, Ross, but what's the top single-seater?
That's Murray Firths special David.
Thanks OF - one of the few disadvantages of not living in the Auckland area at the time
PS: and of being too thick to consider clicking on the photo...
Alan Carter at a Grass Track Race somewhere near Kaukapakapa.
Is this Thexton the same one that raced in the Aussie V8s long ago?
Found an old photo of my first serious race car, the ex Francevic/Mcmillan Ford, back up car at a club circuit meeting at Pukekohe around 1974/75 parked alongside my XT GT. We used to park the cars on the full track grass verge in front of the main grandstand and it was a great little track especially for the learners that later after they let it go to ruin had to run on the daunting big track. People in photo are L/R my bro Clive (about 11 there) my brother in law Brian and sister Lexine, buddies Brian Boyle(Alan Boyles Nephew) Brett Haldane, Gavin Stroud, First wife Vivienne ("cringe") and the blond long haired yetty in the race suit is myself

Here's a shot of Bob and John Couch (Sofa Brothers) moments before rolling over the finish line.
There was an excellent entry for this televised event so teams could give their sponsors some good exposure

Great images - seeing the Nylex Vinyl top cars brought back some memories. Not only of a terrific team but the fashion crime that was the vinyl roof
