    Roger Brader RIP

Sad news that Roger Brader succumbed to bloody cancer a few days ago. A nice guy, successful and respected businessman, and a very good driver. Started with a Midget and grass track racing in the Wairarapa. Then an XU1 and Levin, followed by a V8 engined XU1. Drove Wayne Fuller's V8 engined Menon Escort very quickly while it stayed together. Wayne and he moved into rallying with a very quick TC Escort which ran at the pointy end of rallies but had some major offs. Latterly he rallied a much modified RX3, which also saw duty as a race car at Manfeild's MG classic meeting. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and the Wairarapa Car Club. My sympathies to his family.

Oh no! I'm really saddened to hear that. Roger helped me with an article for Australian Muscle Car magazine I wrote several years ago, about a series of sedan races that took place in New Zealand in 1974, when he was driving Wayne Fullers V8 Escort. He was so enthusiastic about the car, and extremely helpful. Just a very nice guy, and genuine enthusiast. RIP Roger.

Met Roger a million years back, probably at a Admiral Road hillclimb. "A chirpy chap".
As Richard said: "Bloody cancer". Just remember to give to cancer causes. It could be you or I next time.
