As I said earlier, HSS guys had come to race, Graeme showing the commitment to running as he wanted to, and Robert not worried about throwing a big car around.
Thanks Ray great pics for the Bucket List, next time like to get a pic running with Gordon in the Alfetta- yeah right!!!
CUSTAXIE 50- this ones for you

I think Gordon arrived with the Alfetta about 5 minutes before that race started, so obviously didn't make the grid. Shame.

I usually concentrate on 1 car per frame John, building up a massive library of many different cars, so I'll keep my eye out for future opportunities to snap you with the icons of the class.

Great work for getting this class running - especially as a bit like me, you never actually asked for the job in the first place!

Ray, Scotty was there in the garage when they arrived ....and it was after.
In an ideal world using modern mobile phones, we could have been told he was almost here..........and seen if he could have done race 25.
Upgrade at 5.13 They rolled up with the Alfetta just as Scotty was getting Barry ready, we we would have been in our cars .

Very pissed off not getting to this meeting, today i looked at four hours of tape of Sport Sedans that ran at Wellington,Manfeild,Baypark,Puke. How good would that be to get it back up there the way it was, maybe we could throw some money at it to get more cars out there, would be one way also to full the stands up and maybe make some money out of it also.

Agree John. And no one would have minded if they had brought race 26 forward either, but Gordon is not the sort of person who expects the world to change for his benefit either. He has to be one of the nicest guys around in racing.

    Couple more pics:

Regarding spectators. One of our guys with a Ford Escort went to the Pukekohe meeting for the time attack at Super Tourers and was amazed at how much interest there was in his car (including from the Ute drivers!).

Chatting to one guy who owns a sporting classic, he was stunned to find out that this guy had never ever attended a classic race meeting and was only at Pukekohe because he was a Greg Murphy fan.

The Ferrari Festival is an annual 'big' event and we get the manufacturers getting TV coverage for grids of 9 at the non-classic meetings, so maybe we need a decent sponsor to back classic racing onto TV, to show people what we are all about?

So you would like to commercialise Historic Racing Ray? I thought that was against the ethos of Historic motorsport?

I believe there is a big difference between commercialising the sport and assisting in its promotion. If it is televised now and again, spending someone's advertising budget and where no driver benefits in any way directly, then is that commercialisation or promotion?

When Gold Leaf and Yardley stepped into F1, or even before that, when Shell and Dunlop 'assisted' entrants, that was sponsorship and true commercialisation, but what I am suggesting is maybe someone could step forward to promote the sport, which has vast potential to be pushed out to a wider audience.

I want to give a huge thanks to all those who willingly gave their time and effort into making last weekends Legends of Speed such an enjoyable time.
Starting from Chris Watson and Tony Roberts, CROs -Melissa and Ben, a super Clerk of Course- Deborah Day, the flaggies who we tried to always remember to wave to as the adrelalin wore off.
Weather was perfect always neat having interested people come up and spend time - great talk with Paul Stacey- never a dull moment.

Crunch, Crunch, don't worry, it won't take the fifty spectators away from the V8s and Tourers. Hopefully the commentator will at least get the right person in the right car, and the interviews won't be about 'the car is not right', instead of saying 'what a diddle I made of myself trying to stick/push my nose in there'.

Hey Rod; I'm not worried at all. I was merely pointing out the philosophy of H&C motorsport that is in the front of the MSNZ manual, that I challenge every year, but all clubs tell me is what they want the H&C branch of the sport to represent. Just asking....

Havent posted for a a while, and I return with some great news-
I have been in contact with Peter Gunther, he bought the Skoda V8 off Trevor Crowe 3 years ago.
He is currently getting the engine done and is looking forward to running with us at the Ice Breaker in September
Hopefully he will being doing a post here on this iconic car with pictures as well.
This apparently was the last of Trevors toys, and survived the Christchurch earthquake when the garage didnt.
Always fantastic to meet new new owners of these HSS who want to run them.
He told me he loved everything about this radical car, especially that it was a V8

Peter has also been an ERC member for the last 4 years and is itching to get the car running again!

    Hi all
Yes Ray am itching to get the beast on the track up here on the North Island.

I will try get some more pics as the build goes. The motor is currently at Sparg's Auto Centre to be checked over and then we be putting the heart back inside the beast. I hope to have a shake down or 3 before the Ice Breaker later this year.

I was asked by the Targa organisers if i would be keen to go to SI for this years event but the car will unfortunately not be ready on time for this. Everything going to plan I look forward to racing with the ERC and the HSS.

    Shalom

    Mad Pete

For those who may be bemused as to how it fits in the ERC group, we have had a policy for many years of allowing in a limited number of cars with engine transplants subject, to various criteria. It is because we opened the door to cars like this that are not covered by T & C rules, that we could not enforce CODs as a prerequisite.
