Time for another chapter in the Ian Peak Collection of images. This is the final part in Ian's amazing collection. Part 3 was from the 1970 season. But now the collection jumps a few years, to 1974. It'll also include a few orphan images of Ian's that didn't fit into any of the other chapters.

Once again, the majority of these images are taken at Teretonga, near Ian's home town of Invercargill. The 1974 photos are taken at the Teretonga round of the Tasman Series.

    So here it is. Enjoy!

OK, kicking things off, is Allan McCully in the gorgeous Begg FM5 (or simply FM5 as it was also referred to as). I've actually posted this photo twice, first up in original format, then a cropped version, focusing on the car.

McCully had a good race. He qualified 9th, just behind David Oxton in the 'factory' Begg FM5, and came home to finish 6th.

Slightly blurry shot here of Graeme Lawrence in his Lola T332, in its early guise with blue paint and open rear bodywork. Looks great like this! Lawrence was top resident Kiwi, finishing 3rd.

    Graham McRae in the GM2.

I was going to crop this image down, but I enjoy these Teretonga photos as much for the backgrounds as the actual racing cars. Note the line of spectator cars along the sand bank. At the far right someone has taken full advantage of their cream Landrovers off-road capabilities to gain a better vantage point.

Johnnie Walker in his Lola T330. I could be wrong, but I suspect many of these photos are from practice day, as there don't seem to be as many spectators and spectator cars about as normal.

Some saloon cars, or, 'racing cars with doors', as Michael Clark calls them. Rod Coppins in the Firebird heads Lawrence Bruce in the ex-Kevin Haig Mustang.

Coppins and Bruce again, but, check out the boy-racer MkI Cortina in the spectator area! How cool is that!

Thanks to Jac Mac for putting me right, in that I incorrectly said Ian Peak was from Invercargill. He was, in fact, from Gore. Thanks for this Jac.

Here is Jim Richards in the Sidchrome Mustang. This was the first season JR raced this car, in its original guise with the bubble flares. It went on to win the championship this season.

Peter Gethin in one of the Team VDS Chevron's. Gethin finished the race in 5th. He also went on to win the Tasman Series.

Johnnie Walker again in the Lola. He qualified 4th and was classified as a dnf, even though he completed 61 of the 62 laps. On the penultimate lap, he and Warwick Brown bumped into each other at the Elbow. At the time they were battling over 2nd position. Brown recovered to finish 4th, behind winner Max Stewart, Graham McRae, and Graeme Lawrence, while Walker only managed another 100 meters before he had to stop with the punctured tyre.

The Morand built Chevy in the back of the David Oxton Begg FM5. I believe this is the motor which Wayne Huxford later bought and ran in his Capri Sports Sedan for many years.
