A scene from the Longbridge Factory the Sprite assembly line.

The Austin - Healey Car Club of New Zealand Inc, ran the Hill Climb from 1983 to 1990. I competed in 1983 and in the following years acted as Flag Marshall '84 - '86 and was Chief Organiser 1987 to 1990, Reg Whittaker was the Go To person as was a local - School Teacher and Resident - lived in Bothwell Park Road, which is the next road over from Maioro Road.
The Tavern owner at that time was very helpful, letting us use the car park for Scrutineering, parking of trailers and tow cars, the Tavern benefited from the Prize Giving being held there after the runs as noted in the above forms.
Entry was preferred to be of " Classic cars " however there was the important note in the eligibility requirements, that stated "Any car that the organising club approved ". This led to a real mix with a few more modern ones and a couple of single seaters, including John Wigstons. The MG Car Club took the event over for 1991, as the A - H club was unable to get enough help within the club. Maybe they should have done as other Clubs did and ask for invited clubs to provide a few Marshalls. The event is still run I understand, must try to get to the 2018 Event, for old times sake and take a few photo's.
Thanks as always to Milan Fistonic for these. I don't remember the poster, hand drawn.
I ran our Lotus Elan Sprint,[i say "our" as it was My wifes [Cushla] daily driver] there one year, cannot remember times, same year as Jon Warring ran his lovely McLaren F2 car.Was a good day.
the last 2 cars i think are chevrons
Our Elan was a FHC.

The Healey likers will know this car!
Where was that photo taken?
Lumsden a few weeks back.
Rhys Nolan picture, thanks " Oldfart ".
100S, not a Buckler - a Mistral TR3, another 100, Jowett [ hidden ], then a Sunbeam Talbot.
Have found the full page of the Hawkes Bay Photo News that this photo also appeared in. part of a set of 4 on the Centennial Races at Ahuriri, Napier in 1958.

Thanks Roger,
I need to talk to you regarding "Old Farts" etc. perhaps at Taupo ? ?
Tell me what do you think that other 100 driver is doing to the Buckler ? It looks a bit devious !
So, I do all the research and others get all the credit, that's the story of my life !
Happy New Year Mr. Downing.
Ken H
As in "Blast from the past" thread, Milan has hit the nail, no Bucklers
Jag just out of shot, Healey, Mistral/TR3, Healey, Triumph, Sunbeam-Talbot. Milan gets the credit, mea culpa.

No response to my pic of the McLaren Healey!!!
I hedged my bets when the photo appeared on Facebook, by Rhys and said the car past the 100S was " Buckler / Mistral ", and can now see that the "Jowett " is a Triumph TR3 - will have to edit my quote.
and to all you guys and this Forum, Happy New Year !!.
Ken H, not sure about Taupo at this stage, too close to moving house !!
Borrowed photo - the ex Andrew Shrimpton Rally 3000 replica
Same car different photographers, Ray Green and Allan Horner,in the same place at the same time, I do believe
The cars new owner intends to use it in the Classic Trial Series according to Ray and Allan another competitor who runs a very tidy Sprite [ with Nissan power ].
These are borrowed from Nigel Watts thread; Thanks Nigel - thought they would be good here as a lot of non- TRS Healey-ites follow the thread - see link below to take them to your " Images from My Past " thread.
The Allan Horner Sprite with modified nose and a Nissan Motor ** correction Toyota Twincam Motor - with Austin Healey engraved on the cam cover -must ask him more about the car.
Nigel has his own thread on " The Roaring Season " for all you Healey-ites go to ;

Roger,
In the two Healey photos is it a spot the differences competition ?
If it is, then the knobbly knees are about all I can find. Do I win the prize ?
(Ken H)
p.s. I think it will be too wet for you to move in two weeks so I think you should come to Taupo where fun can be had by all whether in sunshine or in rain.
