Tony [ Anthony ] van de Water, of now Basis spare parts fame was one of the organisers of this event in its early days.
these shots are probably from around 1990.
MGB roadster works replica car
Brad Chibnall - then President of AHCCNZ - and his Healey, part restored but running, he did a lap of the track
This was the first time out for the Derek Prior MGB, which went on to considerable success, firstly with Derek of course, then Greg Bellingham (Tracer Interiors) and on to Tony Sturm.
Tony had a horrendous crash at Taupo January 2014 that totally destroyed the car and sadly, put Tony in hospital for a considerable time. What was even sadder was that Tony was retiring anyway and the car already had a new buyer in the wings. The remains were eventually bought by Andy Culpin who will probably put the engine in another car that will NOT be an MGB!
Definitely November 1990 - and I also have a pic of the car with the bonnet raised, so we must have been around at roughly the same time! Just to the very right of the guy with the dark pink shirt in pic 1, is the small corner of my MG Montego.
Dave Walker's black Marcos between the MGs and Reliants. (Dave also had a Reliant and MGs.)

The original pictures posted were from the 1983 event, photos by John Dowding
here are a few [ 4 ] from another year, 1984 ??. my own photos.
this was posted in the Hill Climb series.
Cameron working on the wheel brace.
In the pits - pre race as people standing around, no one in their cars
Ross Osborne 100/6 #10 and behind Cameron Mackay's 3000 red #11 and Les Megget's Green over Ivory #14
and that Sprite again #16, Liz Mackay talking to the driver
Those AUSTIN - HEALEY banners went all over the place for several years, even to Ohakea, for the 1982 Reunion meeting, we had them on the Motel balconies..
Met Mark Donaldson (and Jens Foelberg) today at HD! Said 'Hi', but claims he hasn't time go get on to Roaring Season - too busy finger pickin' that banjo...
ERC, Ray, I believe that he just remarried too !!. Mark D, and I knew Jens Fogelberg from my NZ TR Register [ got a lot of parts through them ] and Triumph Car Club days, back in 1978 - 85 period.
Have yet to get to a Hampton Downs meeting despite being invited by John Bennoch, my neighbour from 1999 -2003 days at Ponsonby Crest Apartments, and a friend since, John has a garage and apartment there.
cheers
Roger D.
Sketch of the Healey 100 Coupe of which two were made and one was Donald Healey's favoured transport for many years.
Somewhere I have a huge envelope with the same type of images but of a 100 Roadster.
Found these few shots one from 1981 / 82, and the rest from a Sprint meeting in late 1980.
I wasn't competing as by then the TR4 had been smashed up, think I may have driven the Sunbeam Alpine owned by Richard Leaper - background in one of the photo's - he lent me the car, so I was mobile again.
Is that Jim Shorts Paton Ford in the first Pit " garage " . next to the single seater Cooper !! and then a Buckler
The late 1980 meeting in the pit area.
Cameron Mackay 3000

Just a few shots ; grass gymkhana and sprint, near Auckland - not sure where !!!.
My Healey 100, A Sprite and Frank Karls " purple " Healey 3000, seen and raced in many places, still is, I understand !!
some of the competitors, a mixed field, Healey's, Minis, that Monaro and a TR6,
The Cooper Club were invited as Nell Donaldson a keen Healeyite also owned a very original 1962 997 Cooper, not sure if this one.
Healeys, a couple of shots of Cameron Mackay's 3000, also seen at Pukekohe in the previous post.
trying a bit harder here
Note that Sprite is LHD, is that the one Ian Bradley was using until his passing last year?
Interestingly enough is that i finished up with the Mk1 Sprite which Max Fisher rebuilt, using the word rebuilt would be being very kind, lets just say when i fully restored it ,i was amazed to find kilo's of bog/filler and very dubious metal work.So much rust was covered up i had to source a complete front, sills etc.To say the least i was not pleased.
I took 3 years to restore it and it came out very well and it was eventually sold to Japan,i raced it Taupo and Chelsea Hillclimb,it had a supercharger on it then that i put on,went very well.
Photos of the car are on Models and Minatures.
Found another series of photos 40 or so of the 1989 Easter Rally held at Solway Park Masterton the motel used as our base and for the Concours D'Elegance, and the " Concours de Negligance " [ worst feature of your car ] as well ..
Have photos from other rally's New Plymouth in 1976, Rotorua various years 77/78/80 .. and maybe later, Napier 1984 when the US West Coast group of Healeyites visited ..
Here is the first few from 1989 .
The Concours gathering Saturday morning.
The Touring run on the Saturday afternoon, at a Historic House near Carterton - taken from the balcony, most of the cars are there
At a Tea Rooms another historic House, we caught up with the local Vintage car group who were also doing a Touring Run .. we finished up at the Gladstone Tavern for a refreshment before heading back to Solway Park.
Hillclimb, Chris White 100
Many more to come as I scan and save them..
More pics, a bit random as includes in Masterton and around, the trip home and the Hillclimb
Bernie Huynen - Valiant Healey
Sprite on the way there or back Manawatu Gorge
The Gorge again Ross Cammick red 3000 and Chris White's 100, we left Chris on the Manawatu side of the Gorge as he was back to Wanganui, we to Auckland
Refuelling in the Waikato somewhere " Flairport ", maybe near Hamilton airport Ross Cammick 3000 Tony's Sprite Les Meggett 3000 and Barry Moon's 3000 obscured
Gymkhana in Barry Moon's Healey , me driving
Bernie and Chris getting the cars ready for Concours, other 100 I cannot remember whose !! [ BMC BOY may know ].
a few more, at the Tea Rooms with the Vintage Cars, Hillclimb and the run home to Auckland.
Chris White's 100 with the Vintage Austin and others
Sprite on the Hill ..
White on the Hill .. Chris that is .. a view of the sweeper
Stop at an NZR depot Waikato King Country, I am unsure exactly where ..
Les Meggett 3000, Tony Van de Water's Sprite a very early one 1958, one of the first 260 built AN5 258 I believe ..the 257th built ..
Barry Moon's 3000 and obscured Ross Cammick's 3000.
Somewhere on SH25 bypassing Hamilton
Tony's Sprite - location unsure but in the Waikato sharp right turn to go North .. any ideas ..could be on SH25 again.
view from Barry's 3000..
Like ERC I struggle with some of my scanning and had to rename some of these as had duplicated reference # numbers

On the road, at the tea rooms, in the paddock, on the hill..
On the road middle North Island
Vintage cars and Healey's at the Tea Rooms, Carterton
What is under the bonnet ?
Bernie Huynen Valiant Healey again
Gymkhana Bug and Big Healey's
Hillclimb another Big Healey..
More photos of the Concours, will probably only appeal to Healeyites, I am sure most of the cars are still around ..
Chris White's 100 [ M Spec ] White and the Red car have forgotten who owned it then, and maybe still does !!
The line up from the right hand end ..taken at ground level, well at my height..
From a ladder same end
higher up the ladder
general view again
and from the other end, Valiant Healey is first
This really is for the avid Healeyite, variations on an A-H 100, the three versions.
Chris White's 100M, kit the car was a 100 that Chris modified to " M " Specs, and did a very good job at the time.
view from the other side - showing " Cold Air box and trunking to the grille, made a difference
A 100, unsure whose but could be IA 1004 which was owned by the late Gavin Gullery - information from Mark Donaldson, Founder and Historian for the AHCCNZ.
another view of the 100
and another - small circular air cleaners rather then the cold air box
The photos were taken as I wanted some good reference shots for my car which was somewhat unoriginal
The cars above were driven to and from the NZ event, and indeed most events
For comparison a 100 S engine, cross flow [ correction see notes from Ken H and BMC BOY ] Harry Weslake ' single port ' Head with the carbies on the other side and no air cleaners or cold air box - this photo from Snowmass, Colorado in 1982. The car arrived in a large trailer and had travelled from the East Coast to Colorado.
Sadly no 100 S remained in NZ. that I am aware of - unless tucked away somewhere or recently imported [ as in the last 20 years, since I left the NZ Healey club, having sold my Healey in 1995.
