Having checked with Carol, I've confirmed that this is "Erg's Friend"...
A very early appearance of Peter Hopwood at Amaroo Park, he doesn't look too fazed about locking it all up heading into Honda Corner.
Which leads me to wonder if the picture I posted earlier...
...is actually 'Erg' with numberplates removed.

Not the Brit & Euro but the " Intermarque Concours " a week or two ago - the Valiant Healey - Mark Donaldson photo - supplied by Allan Horner, who races a Sprite in the " Classic trial"series at Hampton Downs and Pukekohe.
Allan is having a tough time at the moment with his health. I wish him well.
Car was recently restored by Grant Mackenzie, after the attempt a few years ago by Phil Mules to put a V8 in it.
Phil lives on the Gold Coast - or did back in 2017 when we were last in contact.

Otaua Hillclimb this Sunday, also organised by the MGCC - VCC invited, so I might just amble down early. Well done to Darryl of the MGCC and his team for both events.
ERC thanks for putting that on this thread, great that MGCC have continued the event since 1990.
Will be good to have more Historic / Classic / Vintage cars at the event with the VCC being invited.

Enjoy the day .. hopefully the " Long Drop " is in place half way up the Hill on the left - Reg " of Waiuku " - Reg Whittaker used to organise that for the Austin Healey Car Club. Last saw Reg in November 2017 at Chelsea Walsh - what is now known as the last running of that event

This was the first corner just after the downhill start - great for older cars which are now very old .. as another 30 years on !!

The car had a bit of Chrome in the engine compartment - as did my Sprite owned in the mid 1970's.
Had two Bug-eye /Frog-eye Cars .. nothing like this though !!

The Fred Losee [ Loose ] 100s at Balclutha in 1963, Fred was an American working in the South Island late 50's early 1960's- the car returned to the USA with Fred .. am unsure of the chassis number AHS .... ?? .. have been informed AHS3802, both it and AHS3803 were supplied to Royston Distributors in the USA in April 1955 - have located another [ later ] picture of the car - posting separately

The Healey - Corvette Skope 2019 - Interesting has had a change of Carburetor as in Allan Dick's article on the car [ NZ Classic car issue #63 ] was sporting twin Holley's with small Edelbrock pancake aircleaners in 2015
Nothing specific to A - Healey, but a petrol brand in NZ in the 1930's - 1960's - became Mobil -with Pegasus the Horse logo !!

I remember seeing Plume signs at servos when I was a kid...
So many old brands then. Atlantic (Esso), COR (BP), Texaco (Caltex), often several at the same 'independent' servo.
We in NZ had Plume, Big Tree, Caltex, Atlantic, Shell, BP and of course that NZ icon " Europa " - owned by the Todd family who imported and later assembled Rootes Group cars - then Mitsubishi and others.
and another Plume sign - more modern.. the metal sign I got from my Father - in - law

The jingle about that accompanied the famous TV show, Highway Patrol, on Australian television.
Re-reading Kens comment as have added a bit more to the posts on the 1982 USA trip posted back in 2016 - a few more people identified and car details corrected.
The Trip was because of these cars ; a group of Books by the " Healey Boys " Father and Son.
Have also got out the magazine " Vintage Racer "as going to scan and send pages to the Guy who has built replica of the 1950 Cunningham Cadillacs and see Hans Nohr is one of the photographers who pics are in the magazine at Laguna Seca in August 1981, the year before BMC BOY and others did the AH trip and West Coast tour.
Bringing back great memories - and have got back in touch with quite a few of the people from that time in the USA.
