Just heard that ex-pat Kiwi Alister passed away on December 30th, he had been battling cancer for some time. Alister worked in F1 in the '70s before settling in California, he ran his own teams successfully in Formula Atlantic and SuperVee, winning an Atlantic championship in the '80s with driver Johny O'Connel. Steve Cameron worked for Alister and was a close friend, hopefully he might be able to provide more info if he checks this site.
Alister was a great help to me getting established up here, condolences to his family.
