    Thanks Bruce.

Not sure if the Donovan machine (bottom pic) ran with SCANZ? Someone here will know.

Graham Berry did the fabrication work. It went like stink in a straight line but the handling was never fully sorted. It only ran for one season with the Chevy under Fullers ownership, with Masterton car dealer Roger Brader at the wheel. Then it was sold.

Its always fascinated me, and I wonder what happened to it. The car pictured here looks a lot like it, only with a new paint job. It was later raced by John Scott.

Posts #230 & 231. When NZ made jeans?

I know nothing about the AMCO Jeans, but I was working for Bendon when they bought Izona. Bendon weren't then into sponsorship of any sort, even though they were making millions.

#229 - Sleepyhead bought out Sleepmaker not so long ago, which was then owned by Vita (Dunlop foam and furniture). From within their ranks we had two racers current on the classic scene. Years ago, the Vita (foam) name in the UK was synonymous with one of the fastest hillclimb Minis in the country.

Major sponsorship, or even minor sponsorship, in NZ motorsport, could prove the basis for a great book to add to Steve's impressive portfolio... (Hint hint. I'll only take a small commission off the royalties Steve.) Even though I am a relative newbie to NZ, many historic cars are known as much for their sponsorship as their manufacturers.

Thanks Sean, thats awesome! I do believe it was raced by Millen at some stage. Can't remember who told me that. Sponsor is Scotts Trucks & Diggers, so that would almost certainly be John Scott.

Couple of great shots of Grant Walker in the ex-Paul Fahey Capri RS2600. Much was expected of Walker in the 1976 season. He came in as reigning Formula Ford champion, and the Capri was the reigning Saloon Car champion. But by the 1976 season the V8 competition had moved on massively in the intervening 12 months.

Going back to the Amco sponsored Escort.

I'm not saying it isn't Peter Sunberg but my recollection is that he typically raced with #130 and Spears sponsorship.

I associate Amco Jeans with Rod Collingwood - I may have even purchased Amco jeans because of their motor racing sponsorship. And somewhere in the deep recesses in the idea that the ex Fahey Escort ended up with Grant Aitken. Over to the saloon car experts!

Sundberg did race with number 40 in the 1973/74 season.
