    Woolsey Fires USA

No joy in starting this thread. Many lives, homes, cars and collections lost completely in devastating fires.

    Those California Fires.

Mike Ryan - ex-pat Kiwi living in California, has been posting about the damage, to house and other property, not to mention the tragic loss of lives.
There is major fundraising going on in the USA for the victims too !!.

" Godzone" has had disasters in the past but not like this.

Hope our mate " Ken H " is all safe - he has just been posting so hopefully it is OK for him.

    Roger,
Your thoughts are appreciated. We live about 100 miles north of the Woolsey fire area and about 450 miles south of the Paradise / Camp fire area. We know of people in both areas who have lost everything but are still alive. We can only hope and pray some of the missing will show up not realizing they are on the "missing" list.
Of course there is lots of blame going around but with it being so dry and the winds so strong from the inland to the coast it does not take much to get situations such as took place last week. The power companies are getting slammed and now everyone wants all power lines to be put underground. You can imagine how long and expensive that will be. It is so crazy here that you can almost sue the power company if you are drunk and hit a power pole blaming them for putting the pole there in the first place !
Here is a sad photo of how small the fire at Paradise was when first noted before the winds picked up and this is right next to a water reservoir ! (If Only ! )

PARADISE, CA - NOVEMBER 09: Smoke rises beyond PG&E's Poe Dam off I-70, in Pulga, Calif., November 9, 2018, near the reported start of the Camp Fire blaze .
