    1971 Ford Escort Classic Race Car - # 122
    Road legal race car. Well developed and very reliable. Very versatile – suitable for hillclimbs, circuit racing, tarmac rally e.t.c Predominantly used for circuit racing, developed continuously by current owner of 20 years.

    Has been running in the ERC Classic Race Series (AES class). Is also approved to run in the Historic Saloon Cars class (the COD would need an audit and update).

    Buy it today and race it on the weekend. There is nothing that needs doing. The car has most recently competed at race meetings in September, November, and December – it’s ready to go.

    Engine Ford 1680cc pushrod engine (full race), running on AvGas (11.8:1 compression ratio). Engine developed and built by Lynn Rogers. Steel crank SAENZ forged conrods Forged pistons (JE billets I think) Billet Camshaft – custom grind, similar to Kent 254 Solid rocker posts 2 x Dellorto DHLA40 carbs with trumpets and near new filter. Setup by Bob Homewood Engine fully balanced including flywheel and clutch Crane electronic ignition Autometer rev limiter 24 row oil cooler Mk2 Cortina triple row radiator – NEVER runs hot. Electric Fan

    Gearbox & Clutch Ford type 9 (Sierra) with Tran-X heavy duty, straight cut, close ratio gearset. Rated for 280hp. Powertrain twin plate clutch. Sprocket flywheel – VERY light, weighs 8 pounds

    Diff Ford English Axle Quaife LSD Unit 4.86 ratio, new Crownwheel and Pinion August 2018.

    Brakes Dual line master cylinder, re-sleeved October 2018. Hydraulic handbrake

    Front: 2.8 Capri Vented rotors. Ford M16 2 pot rotors, rebuilt with new pistons and seals October 2018. Ferodo DS3000 pads (2 meetings old) Ducting

    Rear: 240mm solid rotors. Ford Sierra Cosworth / Escort Cosworth single piston sliding calipers. Rebuilt October 2018 Ferodo DS2500 pads (2 meetings old) Ducting


    Front: Mk 1 V6 Capri struts 300lb springs Koni adjustable shocks Adjustable TCA’s – camber adjustable from 0 degrees to 3 degrees negative. Compression Struts (adjustable) Sway bars – 4 different size / setup combinations. Setup info will be provided.

    Rear: Leaf springs – extra full length leaf added. Bilstein shocks Rear sway bar – 2 different sizes 2 linked / anti tramp rods

    Interior: 1 x Momo + 1 x Autosport seat Fire extinguisher 3 inch, 6 point harnesses. Valid until 2025 6 dial RS dash Custom centre console housing Autometer gauges for Oil pressure and oil temperature. Large oil pressure warning light (50 pound switch).

    Other: Full 8 point rollcage, homologated by Motorsport NZ New Carter fuel pump, new Jegs fuel filter, new oil pump 3 meetings ago Foam filled fuel cell – capacity = 45 litres Battery in the boot Momo steering wheel Genuine Ford RS alloys (13 x 6 inch) with Toyo R888 tyres. 1 x spare included (also Ford RS alloy). WOF, registration, and Motorsport NZ authority card. COD (needs updating) Car weighs 920kg wet.

    Spares: Ford 1600cc long block – standard, complete less ancillaries. Last run approx. 15 years ago in a road car. Always kept covered in dry storage. Getting quite hard to find these days. ARP Head Studs – brand new. Cylinder head – standard. Pulley kit (2nd hand, never been fitted to this engine) Rocker shafts (standard) Starter motor Alternator Sump Diff casing, complete less axles and brakes. Includes complete diff head (non LSD) and factory sway bar with mounts. Diff ratio is either 4.11 or 3.89. 2 x axles with brand new bearings 4.44 crownwheel and pinion Gearbox tail housing Rear Seat Chrome front quarter bumpers (VERY rare these days) Bottom arms (standard, non-adjustable) Front and rear sway bars Front rotors – brand new old stock Rear quarter window (at least 1, possibly 2) 2 doors, complete with glass
