    OSCA 40th Reunion

    Hi all,
Saturday November 5th 7.30pm at the Hornby Workingmens Club, Carmen Road, Christchurch is where the OSCA 40th Reunion will be held. Its the weekend of the The Lady Wigram Revival meeting at Ruapuna where pre 1990 OSCA sedans and friends will be racing as well as the current OSCA class.
Also at the meeting will be F5000, Pre65, Classic Touring Cars and more.

Tickets are $15 and can be bought through me at evanmunt@hotmail.com or on the door for $20 so tell all your mates and old racing buddies to come along for a great night of tall stories, old footage and photos and catching up with old acquantices.

Please send any photos you may have to me to add to the night and post any stories, photos, questions or whatever below as Im sure there are a few of them around the country.
    Cheers Evan

Hey Evan, these are great! Just out of interest, what/who/when is the brown car #20? Looks like a MkII Cortina, but its a left hooker. Neat looking car. Looks like PDL I in the background, so I assume somewhere around late 70s?

That was/is me ,Left hook & two door, but those mods were made to what was originally a plain jane four door, would like to take credit for being much faster than PDL1 with Dave Baker at wheel, but to be honest the PDL car was a bit 'off song' that day I would have to check date on trophys etc to be sure but I think around 1976.

Bloody hell Jac, it would seem I might be president of your fan club. You build good looking cars for sure. Can you tell me more about this car? What was it powered by? And where is it now? The PDL I was given that colour scheme when PDL II was built, so would be the 1976/77 season, or perhaps slightly later.

Hope you like Daytona Coupes, MKIV GT Fords, & the Flip Top Cobra then they are all on the to get done yet list... As I mentioned in the 70/80 saloon thread, Boss 302 ( Exhaust system was a 180° crossover & as one tailpipe exited on each side it had a lot of folk scratching their heads, later changed to a conventional side for side V8 setup simply to make it easier to work on stuff ), Top Loader, 9", Much modded MK2 Cortina struts @ front, 4pot calipers ( heat treated ) ex Francevic Fairlane, BMC 1800 rack, Austin A60 fuel tank ( there is a story about that that I should post in yards n yarns ), Anthony Prendergast now has it in Ashburton painted up in same colour scheme ready for OSCA reunion, Anthony also has my MKIV Cortina that Rod McElrea bought. After building it I did a couple of Teretonga club meetings & the tail end of the 78/79 or 79/80 OSCA season before parking it up. )

Thats great Jac. I love it! Have you got any current photos of the car as it is now? I assume its a left hooker because all the SI tracks are anti-clockwise?

Dont ask me how I managed to make this happen, but it worked for once. Yes the anti clockwise thing plus it was easier to work the shift as most yank shifters are on LH side of trans.

Photo credit goes to AJ Newton!

Grid so far looks like this fellas, not all were OSCA cars as a couple were allcomers but fit the period....Jac Mac 2 door Cortina (as above), Collins Cortina, Farr Escort, Butch Johnston Avenger, Shrimpton/Fitzgerald Capri, Boone Anglia, Grindley RX7, John Thorby Viva, Little Charger, Coppins/Pascoe Zephyr, Cook Datsun, Renault Dauphine.
Still to confirm but most are more than likely are Grindley/Jones RX3, Dickie/Elvy Victor, Willis Commodore, Fisher/Elvy Capri, Munt Capri, Homewood Escort, Custaxie, Silvester Chev Coupe, Roger Townshend with either Cologne Capri or Escort, PDL1 Mustang, Algie Alfetta (hopefully), Crowe Starlet 1, Crowe Starlet 2 if I can ever get hold of the Stevensons.

Those that we have contacted but wont make it are Foley Minor, Marwood Camaro, Coppins Pontiac, Hunter Escort, Dawson Camaro, Kennard Cortina, McElrea Cortina (will be on display)

If anyone knows of any car then please contact me and them and let them know whats happening, Cheers

Add to the "confirmed as long as nothing goes wrong" list the original Crowe Starlet, Algie Alfetta and Fisher/Elvy & others Capri and probably the Victor.
