Thanks for the info about the Shaw car Steve. Must have been quite a crash.
There are still quite a few of those vehicles from Kyalami around in historic car racing in SA, something I've not really had time to get involved with. That's something I intend to remedy next year.
Incidentally, Johannesburg is at an altitude of 5,500 feet and that, plus the heat, ensures that local cars don't rust. My daily driver (I'm now retired) is 21 year old Ford Fiesta that's done 230,000 kms without anything even resembling rust. My "weekend special" is a 19 year old Alfa Romeo GTV 3 litre V6 / 24 valve. It looks pretty new when its cleaned up! Never been restored and now has 186,000 kms on the clock!
