Bry, I could just see you 2 in that. Looks like a bit of work has gone into it. Drop in a 10A or 12A and hang on.

  3. #83
re the A30 going to have a chat with the vendor today ,are they Mawer wheels, turns out he has an Anglia sport sedan from the same period as well, could do with a Tatts win about now. Bry wont fit his hair inside the A30

  4. #84
Thought Bry would gladly "crew" for you. So another Angle box found.

  5. #85
getting some more history on the A30 it was once Barry Brays ,guy is going to send some pics of Anglia ,the A30 be a Ford

Regarding Gary Rogers Hatchback Torana I beleive it became Robin Doherty's, then Mike Ceverie's which was morphed into the Sierra

    105Angria,
I recall a chap, name of Wayne Lanham, in NSW had a 105 sports sedan, circa 1985 ran it in events in NSW, he had initial difficulty getting his CAMS race licence, due to he having no left arm, but a strap on prosthetic, he had to velcro strap the plastic hand to the gearstick, and steered one handed. I cannot recall the colour scheme, i think it was a straight 6 Falcon engine.
Any info? I met him at the Solo petrol station/workshop in Ramsgate NSW

Weekend just gone, at HRCC Autumn Historic meeting, we had Chris Fung debuting the ex Larry Kogge R100, some teething troubles, but he is well on his way to getting his cod and logbooking.
My RX7 has had its final EO and Scrutinners declaration completed, all that is required is to submit those, the required photos, and balance of cams cod fee, and the x Bruce Smith 1985 Qld Sports Sedan championship winning car will be done.
I took it to Morgan Park early on in 2012, and gave it a run, in the wrt, on 10" slicks, it was interesting, minor troubles but getting sorted.

At the meeting due to low entries, the HRCC ran the Historic Prod Based Sports (group T) with grp C and A, and group S( prod sports with no history) only 14 total on grid. It worked out pretty good. It was a case of "best fit" .
At the July meeting, as per Gary's posts there will be C&A's and the U's will be with those.
cAMS has a vehicle compatability matrix, it says "best fit" is C, A&U all together.

I entered the RX7, again at Phillip Island, rejected, again, but notice they only had 42 C & A cars, so they could have fitted a few U's in.
Ian Tate , president of VHRR is well aware of the U cars, and knows about the compatability matrix, so when you approach VHRR, go straight to the top.
I will be entering PI again, with a note about the matrix, but, if more of us enter, and keep persisting, we should get a run, hopefully.

Dat2kman, got any pics of your RX7? Would love to see them. I'm really impressed with the efforts you guys are putting in trying to establish Historic Sports Sedans. As you said, you'll get there in the end, persistence will pay off. The cars are out there, and with the prices of most other historic racing cars having climbed quickly the last few years, Sports Sedans are sure to gather momentum as more people look to rebuild/restore these, and return them to the track. Many older Sports Sedans are still very realistically priced. This has to be good for the class gaining momentum with historic recognition and acceptance with event organisers.

quite right about the prices Steve, both the Ex Barry Bray A30 supercharged, and the Ex Cos Montorosso Anglia failed to sell on Ebay ,with reserves of about $6000, so maybe the most undervalued restorable race cars you can buy,my personal experiense ,is I restored my Eric Jordan Anglia as it was really only my time that was costing, now I need a trailer, COD, tyres, entry, race suit, boots, etc the whole thing has stopped, same issues as so many ,however found a trailer for $600 making it big enough for car, will start running in rackdays ,sprints etc in 12 mths we may have enough of these great old poorman racers together to put on a display then the momentium will pick up i believe

Keep up the good work you guys, remember, strength in numbers! The momentum is really growing.

Forgive me if it has been mentioned, but I didnt see Garry Ford's escort on the list of Historic Sports sedans. This car has a great history & would be one of the few still owned & raced by the original owner.

Neale, the pale blue Escort of Gary Ford, has run at a couple of the Historic meetings in Qld. It either has been granted a Group U logbook, or well in the process of!

Gary Goulding, i have entered the July Historic meeting at Morgan Park, however not in my U car, but in the Datsun Sports 2000 Group T car.
What is a Group T car, that should be the subject of a whole new thread on here, but a T car is a Historic Production based Sports Car, with a genuine race history, prior to Dec 1981.
There is another historic prod sports group S, but they are all replica's or fakes, with no genuine race history required, but they are popular, and cheaper, except for the Porsche 2.7/3.0 Carrera's, they cost up to $250 k to set up!!!

Gary, if ever you are wandering over my way ( The Gap), you are most welcome, along with anyone else, to call in and peruse the collection of toys

Oh and a fwiw, over on the VHRR forum, ( Victorian Historic Racing Register), in the thread titled "Winton Festival of Speed 2012, i have posed a enquiry to the VHRR as to when ALL categories of genuine historic race cars will be accepted by VHRR.
Every other state in Australia is prepared to give us a go, even Tasmania!

I ask if possible ( without compelling you all to be forum addicts!), to sign up on VHRR and post your comments!!!
We need many squeeky hinges, to get the oil!!
    Thanks!

It's a shame you could'nt work on a Invitational Historic Sports Sedan class catering for older cars. The VHRR have run Sports Sedans at their Sandown Historic meetings in the past as a full class (non historic).

There are a number of cars in Victoria that run Super Sprints that could probably fit into a invited Sports Sedan class. Is the Winton meeting a ASAA meet? I can think of a few Torana's including Doug Dunster's that hes raced since at least the 80s that he runs at Winton Supersprints.

Last week-end was the Qld CAMS State Championship circuit race meeting.
My self in my Group U (logged booked) Sports sedan raced with others.
In particular against Wayne Clift in the VK Group A Commodore.
We had a ball going wheel to wheel.
It was a bit of a hit-out for the July 14/15 Queensland Historic.
We play altogether up here in Qld.
    Group A / C & U.
Everybody welcome in July (check HRCC website for entry details)

This may interest people with Group U sport sedans, The Geelong Speed Trial Revival is listing a category for Group U sport sedans this would be a fun low stress/cost place to give a car a run at the end of the year
