    Group B Rally Cars

The Group B referred to a set of regulations introduced in 1982 for competition vehicles in sportscar racing and rallying regulated by the FIA. The Group B regulations fostered some of the quickest, most powerful and sophisticated rally cars ever built. However, a series of major accidents, some fatal, were blamed on their outright speed. After the death of Henri Toivonen and his co-driver in the 1986 Tour de Corse, the FIA disestablished the class, which was replaced as the top-line formula by Group A. The short-lived Group B era has acquired legendary status among rally fans,,,,

To Steve Holmes,I have been give some old(around 1968 to 1973) proof sheets, there are about 20 of them with up to 30 thumbnail pics on each, some have much less as there are some family pics on some sheets. I have Emailed Jaime,A and Bob Homewood with some of the ones with sport cars and saloon cars on them but there are many of rallying and what looks like local South/Mid Canterbury hill climbs.I have also sent Bob H a disk with all of the sheets on it, as I was not involved with Motorsport at the time, still hotrodding, I am unfamiliar with most of the content and would like to have the images available to a larger spread of enthusiasts. They were picked up from a transfer rubbish center in Christchurch, so they have been rescued once already. If you have contact details for Bob H, you could perhaps check to see if they are in fact worth having.

Here's several stages of the 1984 Rally of NZ with just the Audis and the lone Lancia 037.

If there's some interest I'll edit up some of the other rally footage including 1985.
