Not John Reid the hot rodder?
Maybe AD nee AK
No,wrong John Reid, Early 1650cc Anglia driver @ Teretonga Club Champ level, MANZ steward, Mobil Oil rep & Car Sales owner .
I see the south canterbury folk still enjoy talking in 'code'..
I don't know the people in the photo, but the #20 red and white Brabham BT6 is the Brownlie car circa 1967.
There she be - the Fireball Special with J Reid (no relation) at Teretonga......of course better know as the BCM Special today. Chris Read- Arrowtown.
Perhaps it should be the 'Red Bal'l...can any one say with authority as my photo has 'Fireball' and I need to correct. CR Arrowtown
I don't think it was ever called Fireball at the time it appeared in that colour scheme. I was at Bob McMurdo's paint shop one night when Leo Sexton the signwriter applied all the stripes and it was certainly refered to as the Red Ball Special, with a similar scheme that an Indy car had.
Looking at the photo in post #29 it does not look like John Reid driving, more like Keith McLelland who raced the car at the Teretonga Championship Meetings on 15/10/67 and also on 10/12/67 [info from Teretonga 25]
