    Terry Richardson

    Hi,

I used to race a turbo Escort in the late 80's, early 90's in various configurations, colours and levels of success, which I still have in storage. Probably hasn't turned a wheel for 20 years. In the mid 90's I moved to Australia and worked for Audi Sport Australia as a mechanic on the factory 2.0 litre Super tourers. In 97, I moved to the UK and worked for McLaren for 2 years on there test team then moved back to Nz in 99. I came back to Australia in 2000 to work for Brad Jones Racing when they first started Running V8 Supercars, as a mechanic then as cheif mechanic then workshop manager and now I am sub assembly manager.

    Hi Rod,

I am in the same boat as you, need lotto to get my car running again (three young kids and a mortgage). Not sure I would be brave enought to drive it now either, ha ha. I had an absolute ball back then, and have been for the last 17 years really although spending other peoples money.

Hi Terry, and welcome. Is your escort the ex-Mannon turbo car by any chance? I have been thinking about the where-abouts of this car for some time. The last time I recall seeing it, it was in a private garage at a semi-rural address south of Auckland, in the early 90's. If its not, I would be keen to see photos of it anyway. Cheers

Hi Terry, Steve Elliott here, have you got any photos of your and my Escorts at Baypark late `80`s. I remember your one having Piako Transport on it, mine was the pink and blue ex Shellsport Mk1 that Dave Green from Speciality Cars in Matamata put the Chev V6 / 5 spd Celica g/box in. I also remember Rod`s late brother Mike with his Chevette he ran with us in the sports sedans.

Steve, check out these two old videos from 1989. You probably still have nightmares about the Manfeild race! http://www.theroaringseason.com/show...-Sports-Sedans

Thanks for that Steve, no nightmares, even 20 metres off the track completely opposite lock and foot hard up the Chev, I was thinking ...she`ll straighten up, she`ll come right!!!!
