    2012 Monterey Motorsports Reunion

Several Roaring Season members are attending the 2012 Monterey Motorsports Reunion this weekend (I wish I was one of them!), and one or two are even racing! This year, the event is celebrating, among other things, the 50th anniversary of the Shelby Cobra. One of our members, Dale Mathers, emailed me some photos from the event, with several more to follow. Enjoy!

Here are some of the Historic Trans-Am cars.

    #92 Rusty Jowett Camaro

#7 I believe is Buzz Dyer Javelin, which I think is originally the Ted Roberts car. I need to double check, but I thought Buzz has owned this car since it was nearly new.

Here is the Laguna Seca website with most of the results from the weekend. The TransAm cars are Group 9A. Group 3A is the Cobra race and I think they had 41 Cobra racing. Simply mind blowing.

Hopefully Dale can talk a couple of these people to bring their cars to NZ in January.

    Steve,

Who was racing up there ??

Mike, just off the top of my head and without looking through all the results, Chad Raynal and Tony Garmey are racing. Chad is racing his '69 Camaro in Historic Trans-Am, and Tony is racing a Ferrari 250GT Fantuzzi in the 1955-62 GT group.

Chad Raynal came second in the Saturday Historic Trans Am race, gave a talk on trick factory race parts, and was also awarded the Roy Wood Memorial Trophy.

I'm sure many of the racers would like to come down for the festival. Having sufficent notice is always an issue

Im having trouble Bruce, they're hard to lever out of their day to day life over here but at this stage Chad(vehicle not established yet) Richard with the Jowett Camaro and Tony Hart with the Alan Green Camaro are the most likely, and because of Roger Williams association with Lance smith, him and his wife Carol plan to visit as well, i have others in the wind but its not likely for 2013 but i know if these guys come it will pave the way for others in the future!! Also we gotta remember its a little step back for them especially after this event at Monterey this weekend, they had 38 TA cars in their own race, the Cobra race was simply amazing with 49 Cobras, know that was a sight to behold.

Dale we really appreciate your efforts to get some of these people to bring their cars to NZ. Things are still tight out there and it will be a bonus for us with each additional car and driver who commit to take the plunge and come down here.

Maybe its just me but one needs to be a little "Adventuress" in life, thats while we have a life!! but offcourse here in the USA with some of the world renoune premier events its tuff to get them to come down under to what one would consider a "lesser event" but we do make it up in maximun fun factor and lots of good racing!! anyway, lets see what happens!!

I did get told by Tom McIntye, HTA president that im considered there number one fan, LOL.

Aussie John Bowe qualified fastest in the 1963 - 66 GT group, but was forced to start off the back of the grid in Race 1 due to an inlet manifold irregularity. He finished Race 1 in 3rd, and Race 2 in 2nd.
