This was on a stand promoting 3D scanning. Very interesting too, as they gave me a personal demo.

Sadly, this Iso Bizzarini finished the weekend somewhat battered, on the exit to Madgwick. That's twice in two visits that one of these has come unstuck. Sadder still that on both occasions, they were the lone examples racing, unlike say AC Cobras.

Kevin Wheatcroft's personal statement further to the October 10 press release announcing permanent closure of The Donington Grand Prix Collection as of 5pm, Monday, November 5, 2018

"As the wider motor racing public will know, Motor Sport Vision (MSV), took over operation of Donington Park last year year while I retained the freehold. We have kept the museum open for one more season and there was a possibility that it might have stayed open under the control of MSV. They have considered this option, but it does not fit their business plan - and the decision was then made to close the museum.

“Its exhibits will go into storage until my family and I have considered their future. This applies not only to the Formula 1 cars which have occupied this building for over 45 years, but also 'The Wheatcroft Collection', a unique array of World War 2 armour and military vehicles which has been a stablemate to the Grand Prix Collection for 10 years.

“On a personal note, I have been associated with these historic machines all my adult life, having helped my late father to locate many of them, and it has been a privilege to help create and operate both one of Leicestershire's greatest attractions, and a piece of world motor sport history."

From the above statement, it appears to me that Kevin still sets a higher store on his 'unique' military collection than on the cars... A very sad press release.

I can't help thinking that MSV have missed a commercial opportunity here and by not keeping the museum, may even adversely affect the numbers visiting the track. The more there is to do at a track, especially on non race days, the better, something that at least TQ understands.

A museum, café, go kart track and something for the kids are ways to get more people to a venue.

I can't help feeling that these days, less and less consideration is given to paying visitors and what they want and need.

    Back to Goodwood.
The JBW Maserati which I remember well from Mallory Park race programmes, but I'm sure I hadn't seen it on track before Monaco 2012.

You call that a racing Fiat 1100?

This is a racing Fiat 1100!

Did you get to talk with the guy who has the "Shuttleworth" Ray? What a character and so very very amusing.

No I didn't Rhys - unfortunately. As one who has always had a fondness for banjos of any sort, from the tenor banjo in a jazz band, to the 5 string for bluegrass and country music to the (Formby) banjolele and 8 string mandolin banjo. Graeme Hardy, the Shuttleworth rider, who apparently did a good job of impersonating Formby, plays!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JmW3aEb31A

Incidentally, the bike was based on a Triumph.

Ray - that Fiat probably wouldn't get a CoD in NZ or be allowed to run at Manfeild as it doesn't have a front bumper...

Thanks for the one of the Hibberd Buckler Ray,can I post to Buckler page with your credit (before Roger gets there ) The guy with the Formby replica has a most unfortunate face, but makes the very most of it. He set up a wonderful tribute at the Bicetster "Flywheel" event and rode there too. If resizing wasn't so tedious again I would post.

Yes Rhys, you can repost. I think I published one of that car a week or two ago.

    Try this Rhys.

Install the programme from the link below.

Copy your full size pics to a new directory. (Important as you don't want to resize the originals.)

Go to the new directory on Windows explorer.

Either click on the image you want to resize and then right click which should give you the resize options. (I created two custom ones for TRS - 700 pixels wide for landscape, 700 pixels high for portrait.)

Or select the whole batch and resize the whole lot together.

    https://www.bricelam.net/ImageResizer/

Unfortunately, we can still only load one pic at a time which is a real pain - then, often, the attachment pics all disappear from TRS anyway so have to be reloaded...

    Ray,
That is a real united nations group; 2 Englishmen, 2 Australians, 1 Swede, 1 South African and a Kiwi.
I would love to know more about this group.
Has anyone read this book ?

    You are correct Michael.
Perhaps it is Richard Attwood in a Lola Mk 5A in 1963 at Crystal Palace Park.

I managed via the interweb, to purchase an SMER kit of the Talbot, (used to be Merit) but noted that at Goodwood, there were two cars there - and the shades of blue were totally different. The kit was cheap but someone has already pulled many of the parts off the plastic sprigs, which may make painting more difficult. I wouldn't be surprised if some bits were missing either.

Thanks chaindrive. I nearly managed to get to the Herb Deeks shop in Anaheim, but ran out of time, so still looking to purchase a couple of sets of the wire wheels. If you are ordering, please add a couple of sets for me!

Sadly, the red Lotus Cortina didn't survive the weekend either, with a dramatic rollover during Sunday's race.
