Thread: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection

  1. #2701
Quote: Apparently I didn't get a Bathurst Legends programme either - as there wasn't one. Very disappointing. Even a one page entry list would be useful. Is this the end of race programmes? I hope not.

I was more then disappointed about the lack of a programme. They were giving out the 8-page handout that came with the NZ Herald earlier in the week but all that had was an event schedule - no entry lists.

I made a point of picking up results sheets which have all the relevant details of number, driver and make. If they are of any use to you Ray, I will send you scans or I could post them here.

Thanks Milan. As my focus is really on the cars, easy enough to identify most of them. I do have a transponder and can access results, but my long time grizzle there is that it lists drivers - but not cars!

That's Terry Richardson from Morrinsville in a 2-litre Turbo Escort.

Thanks Bruce. Still have a fair few Whenuapai pics, as apart from 1984, I flagged there to 1991, then again in 1993, when the car was being restored. The remainder I was racing, so the opportunities to take pics were somewhat limited.

Thanks to Milan and trawling through the race programmes I have, plus matching up slide film markings (after dismantling the slide), dating some is not exactly a speedy job.

Andrew Thorne also raced a Sunbeam Alpine. Big lad, small car.

I was flag marshalling Nigel, and was stuck on that rather boring flag point both days! You must not only have been close, but snapped at exactly the same time, judging by the passenger. Amazing. At least your pic is sharp, as usual...

Unlike Pukekohe, where on a two day meeting, we'd often be moved to a different post, Ardmore was a hugely restrictive two days on the one post. We didn't even have enough of us to have a stand down time either, so that I could get a different viewpoint, so I was a little annoyed that all my pics are from exactly same spot and on a straight. Never even got to the paddock.

However, I should be grateful that at least NZ flaggies weren't banned from taking pics when they weren't actually on the flags, but were incident crew. The UK were much tougher in that regard.

Post #2709 1 & 2 was December 9th, #2716 3 & 4 was the following day. Our flagging location is one of the many means of dating the pics.
