An influx of Porsche Boxters to the ERC grid. All very well trying to stick to the original concept of older classics, but we need to move with the times - or fold. There is a category within the ERC series for post 1990 cars.

ERC, The Lola top photo previous post is that the car that was raced by John Histed, Ken Smith amongst others ?? raced at Matamata in 1964/65. It features in the 1963 Shell Book of NZ Motor racing too !

    This car.

I have no idea Roger. Maybe Roger Herrick will chime in to clarify its history, or any of the other historians/experts on here?

Currently watching on TradeMe, a replacement for the bazooka lens. I prefer the Auto focus to be working, so I'll sell my current one as is. No idea what it is worth but i haven't had good value out of it in terms of the number of shots. Part of the risk of buying second-hand I suppose.

Once again, a car not in the race programme. Reynard.

No it's not the same car.

This part of an email I got from Roger about the two cars.

You were talking about John Histed’s Lola which was the sister team car of mine. John had kept all his spare parts for 40 years and kindly donated them to me when I got my car.

  10. #3710
That's correct - both John Histed's car and my car were part of the three car quasi Lola works team (Team Fitzwilliam Racing) in 1960 predominantly racing through Europe. My car was chassis BRJ1 (the first Lola single seater made) and John's was BRJ3. John's "lost" it's chassis number when it was allocated to a new works car in mid 1960 and came to NZ in December 1961 with the made-up chassis number J.B.M/LJ/1161 - which stood for Jack Brabham Motors (sold to John Histed by Phil Kerr who worked for Jack Brabham Motors), Lola Junior and the date it was shipped from the UK in November 1961. The car has now regained a BRJ3-A identity and lives in the US while the replacement works car is known as BRJ3 (perhaps incorrectly as it was the second BRJ3) and lives in the UK.

    Agree Ray,
When I said on here, I actually meant one of my threads - maybe on the Pukekohe one as photo relates to the GP meeting or the NSCC one - if john Histed was a member - in the 1950's 1960's into the 1970's most guys belonged to both the Auckland based clubs ACC and NSCC .
    Cheers
    Roger ..

Even though I had my leg somewhat mangled 5 weeks ago when an MGB reversed into me and crushed the leg up against another MGB, I still have a soft spot for them. It's called a calf muscle...

Although I have sold my much loved Cooper S and the Marcos may be the next to go, I still have the ex-Geoff Bonham MGB GT to sort out.

The P76 looks quite ungainly in comparison. Just before I left the UK, there was a P76 often parked across the road from the factory where I worked. I never took a camera to work, so never grabbed a pic. Pity.

Having just read, once again, Evan Green's book A Boot Full of Right Arms I'm somewhat tempted to think the P76 could have been a pretty good car...

They did share gearbox, rear axle and wheels with Valiants, after all.

Agreed; socialism killed it, along with the development a lot of other good things within British industry.

    Very seriously LOL.

Notice that the one pictured has the unique Targa Florio wheels?

Somewhere I have photos of a beautifully kept (or restored?) green Targa Florio which lived in Cootamundra. The owner also had a station wagon version, I can't remember now whether that was a factory dalliance/prototype or just something someone cobbled together. I think I have photos of it too.
