Phil Foulkes (NZ) assists with bleeding the brakes of Max Pegram's Gemini. Pity the race programme, this year didn't have country of origin of the drivers - or even the cc rating of the cars! With an international entry and many cars we don't see regularly, with a load of omissions, this is one area where the promoters need to lift their game. Hopefully, they'll listen and learn, but as yet, no details about 2018.

So pleased to see Duncan Rabagliati out on track with his Alexis after last weekend's engine maladies. I first communicated with Duncan about 35 years ago, when he was using old race programmes to track the history of Grand Prix cars racing in the UK. He is the International guru and organiser of the FJ series and in the past, has specialised in collecting rather unusual or rare cars.

He was taking notes when the other group was racing and he'll probably need them, as he can't rely on the programme.

My pleasure Steve! Had a PM yesterday from someone in the UK setting up a website for Special Saloons and Modsports and he'd used one or two of my pics from here. I have given him permission to use them on his site which is as yet, in the early stages.

He also informed me that the pic of the Longton TVR (page 3 on here) had also been used on the cover of the TVR Club magazine.

To cut a short story short, I am now in touch with new owner of that TVR...

If anyone is interested in the UK scene for the heyday of Super Saloons (Mick Hill, Gerry Marshall etc.) and Modsports, add it to your favourites:

Thats really cool Ray! Any chance the new owner of the TVR has sent you a photo of how the car looks today? Is it still being raced?

I stumbled recently upon that Modsports website a few weeks ago. Its good to see the growing interest in bringing these old monsters back to life. I know several have already been restored and running once more.

The car is now in Sussex (Arundel) so as we are pencilling in a visit to the Thursday of the Festival at Goodwood, I may be able to catch up with the owner.

    Ray,
I really enjoy the photos that you and Nigel etc. enter on TRS, especially as I can not be there in person these are a wonderful substitute.
I especially enjoyed the photo of the Jody Scheckter Trojan T 101. That is a car that was put together when I worked at Trojan Works and Jody would sling it around on the limit wherever he raced. It usually had number 0 when I saw him drive but also had number 2 as shown..

Here you are Terry S, just for you. Starting to name and file another set of pictures from the weekend.

Just to explain part of my system, and mainly due to an upcoming project, I file each car by country, then make and maybe model.

The first three pictures I come across are these from the Formula libre grid:

Car number 4 - not in the programme

Whoah! Another car number 4 - not in the programme either

Car number 1. According to the programme, Poul Christie's McLaren M10B - which it quite plainly is not.

And another - car 44 - Cheetah. Nope. I think not
    Name: 217_0120_451.JPG

How about this one - car 35 - BRM. Nope, I do know my BRM's....

Rather than being so critical about Nigel and myself not labelling our photographs for your benefit Terry, how about you do the research and confirm the make, model and year of car, capacity (cc) and in what country it was built - and the driver's name, as my Excel photographic database requires this information. (I also record the driver's date of birth where known!) It also helps if the car has changed driver in recent years so that there is a continuity of a specific car where I already have a previous pic.

For other observers, please don't fill in the gaps, as I'll happily wait and see how long it takes Terry to come up with the answers, as he really does believe it is so very easy and no more than laziness that we don't label them.

LOL! Yup, a stirrer. Only Terry has ever made an issue out of Nigel and myself not labelling pics, claiming that it is 'easy to consult the programme to label pics'. See Nigel's thread!

When people raise issues, they deserve to be challenged. It's what I miss about not being in the workforce these days, the challenges of people just not-understanding - or having to develop and install systems for the betterment of all concerned, especially when they lacked any vision or refused to look at the whole picture, rather than just their area. Ironically, similar challenges to running a race series, where you had to look at the overall picture.

You guys are fine - and safe!

I now have a massive pile to crop, name and file - and reject the duplicates. What has been posted so far from the Kenny Smith meeting is just a few random shots.

With Leadfoot coming up next week, no doubt I'll get even further behind...

Before I go back to my own filing, just need to upload a few that were scanned a couple of weeks ago. Sorry Roger, the Healeys are only in the background.

The Laser Sport No 68 is Kirk Stoneman

The FVee No 47 is Ian Foster and the car is a K.R.D.Viper Mk.1

No 7 in the Historic race is obviously not a Lotus Formula Junior.

Thanks yet again Milan. It confirms dates of several other pics that are sitting in the 'not sure' department.

Lance Elliott (Mini #33) resprayed the Allegro Equipe I brought to NZ that got scuffed in transit.

Interesting to see that Billy Apple signed a bottle of wine! I am still waiting to see Billy's restored Lola 212 that Mike Causer and I trailered down from Cheshire, (Bob Howlett/Howman sales or something like that?) behind Mike's 1147cc Mini and some time before it was shipped to NZ! It's a small world.

Thanks for the photo Ray - I look like I'm out for a Sunday cruise! Oh wait, no cameras on the car and number 18 on the side/nose tells me it's the Friday. In that case I was out for a cruise...
