    Still at the NSCC day. Alvis Special. I bagged a passenger ride in this. The 900 yard Curborough course isn't really long enough to fully enjoy that sort of unique experience.

    At least these clockwork Frogs are Turbo, so a bit more exciting than the standard article we were lumbered with at Hertz, when they switched from Ford Fiestas.

    It is ironic that Stefan Bellof crashed his # 7 Maurer at Eau Rouge corner at Spa in 1982 at almost exactly the same spot where he died 3 years later in 1985 after colliding with Jackie Ickx while racing in a Porsche 956.
    He was one of the most promising driver's of his day but many felt he often drove over the limit as may have happened here.

    Correct Ken. The #7 is Bellof (correct spelling) in the Maurer. (If on Windows, run your mouse across the pic and it should show.) I have never been much of a single seater fan from that era and find it frustrating that I often have to do some research to find out where some of the cars were manufactured. I keep a separate file block for British so non-British race cars are just filed as not-British. Road cars by country.

    Correct Steve, it was a series for Renault 5 Turbos. "Coupe d'Europe Renault 5 Turbo Elf" Round 5 1982. Apart from the slicks, it looks as though they could very well be roadcars. With a 40 car grid, it was obviously well supported. Once again, I have one car not listed in the programme... Car 48.

    Thanks Ray, they sure are neat little cars. As far as one-make classes go, thats one of the more interesting I've seen. Was it a French series that had a round in the UK, or a British series?

    thank you for posting such a neat picture of the Sports Sedan Association early days from 1984.
    That banner still exists and we had it at Hampton Downs January last year.
    And the Marina and Graeme still going strong 33 years later........................

    Thanks John. I'm absolutely thrilled that the time and effort taken to scan and publish is appreciated by what appears to be a fairly wide audience of enthusiasts, who pop into this site and this thread on a regular basis. Pity it takes about 2 or 3 minutes to scan each single negative, so a set of 8 often takes over 20 minutes - then the scanner throws a wobbly and doesn't scan one or two in focus, so they have to be redone anyway - or ignored and deleted.

    More to the point and your comment about 'Historian' struck a nerve - though I don't put myself in the same category as Michael!

    After a recent health issue, we attended an 'Advanced Care Planning' session at North Shore Hospital last week (Google it...) and I realised that if I were to keel over tomorrow, there would be a whole heap of stuff for the surviving family members to deal with.

    A fair bit of that would relate to disposing of what I have accumulated over the years, ranging from prewar race programmes to modern race programmes, models - die cast and slot cars - most in mint condition and boxed, car and motorsport memorabilia, 1000's of car magazines, books (some of them now quite valuable), 1,000+ CDs and old LP records, a garage and an office full of stuff. Whilst the wardrobe could be emptied in minutes, to the benefit of a charity shop, I'd hate it if all the other stuff just ended up in a skip!

    Filling in the ACP template - or my version of it, I have to make some serious decisions and there is no time like the present, so if anyone is interested in acquiring the UK 'Classic & Thoroughbred' magazine right from when it started in 1973, to the middle of 2015 for a fair price, (only a few issues are missing, usually thanks to Gordon & Gotch, the local wholesalers stuffing up!) PM me.

    Chaindrive might also be interested in a box of the old UK 'Model Cars' magazines and also 'Miniature Auto' many of which contain car plan drawings and also cover slot cars of the era. I think that a partial magazine clearout has to be the place to start as it occupies the most space. There are also several years' worth of NZ Classic Car magazine (up to the middle of 2015) and the monthly MGCC MaG for MG enthusiasts. The MG MaGs are free to anyone who wants them.

    That will still leave a massive pile of random magazines, local and UK, and even the odd rarity and collectible...

    All magazines are in 5 ream A4 paper boxes.

    I still have the Octane magazine and Classic & Sportscar, plus Practical Classics each month on subscription (though I am almost a year behind reading them, thanks to the annual cruising addiction...), I wouldn't be averse to selling off older issues.

    Totally agree Michael. Pity that MSNZ thought that tier 1 with a tiny grid of almost identical V8's and a plethora of one make/model series was the way to go. Just look at the huge crowds at Pukekohe for the Nissan Mobil and the Benson & Hedges meetings.
