The legendary auto racer and car designer Carroll Shelby is being recognized in a special show by the EyesOn Design group. That's the good news. In the meantime, the body of the late automotive icon still waits to be laid to rest. I heard that his remains are a point of contention among factions in Shelby's own family. I have to buy a car as beautiful as something Shelby would make.

Great you bought this post up to speed Bob.

I had in the passed check this website but it has been up date since i did last!! always admired Dave MacDonald's achievements, he had fantastic driving talent but died so young in that horrific Indy car crash!! I always like the way his wife Sherry was always at the events with him in those days and is quite often in the pictures.

Towards the end of Graham Pierce's(Baypark Promotor) life(May 08 RIP) i use to stop by and chat with him quite often, he had an office at Rorison's yard(Aerodrome Rd, Mt Maunganui) been related to Ian Rorison(RIP) he told me about when Shelby came to NZ and raced at Ardmore, i remember Graham mentioning the Shelby marriage to Sue ??? as he said he knew her parents, remember him telling me they "were not amused" apparently they were Brits that had immigrate to NZ. Sounds like it was short lived affair anyway? wonder if she's still around? so i'd say they are quite rare pictures of her and him.

I got to meet Shelby several times in the last 10 years before he passed but he was generally quite elusive!! at SAAC 2005 held in Los Angeles once he was the guess speaker and he thanked all the Kiwi's and Aussies that came for this event and we got to talk to afterwards!! by pure chance i got to meet him a year later and speak with him at his Gardena shop, said he luv'd the NZ'ers and their number 8 wire ability which was very much needed back in those days of keeping race cars going!! never got to ask him about his NZ wife though, LOL

Im glad i was around and had the pleasure to meet(and he never sued me, LOL)

as a racing mechanic in Formula one
