My first exposure to motorsport was being taken to the B&H as a kid in the early '70s - the FIAT 125T and Charger are my abiding memories.
Remember the Bruce McLaren Trust has 100,000 photographs running from the 50's to the 90's. They have owned these for 14 years now and have been steadily scanning and cataloguing them.

Coloured lights for crews to identify their cars if memory is still any good.
Ah, so a little like the codriver lights in V8 Supercars or the Class lights in WEC
More like so you could pick out "your" car in the dark.
Some folks used them to signal their requirements at the next pit stop, fuel tyres brakes etc
