    Dale,
That is too bad. I liked it in the dark blue.
Wishing you a safe journey. Are you bringing "Grimmy" as your chaperone ?

Another racer I enjoy seeing is Ed Archer who enters into the Group 1 A races which is for pre - 1940 Sports Racing and Touring Cars.
Ed drives a 1915 Ford Roadster (50 H.P. ) and he dresses accordingly and transports his car in on a period style Chevrolet truck.

I had a most enjoyable day at Laguna Seca yesterday.
I am not very good at photography so please put up with my inputs. There was something there for everybody in all forms of cars and racing. New and old. Please ask any questions.

Did anyone notice that in the early tape of Bruce McLaren racing his red Can Am car, he was using the number 47, the same number he used in NZ?

The fastest car in the Group 2 race for Sports Racing Cars 1955-1961 was the 1958 Scarab Mk1.Chassis 001.

Ken H, thank you probably my favourite 50's American Sports cars, still have a magazine from 1963, with a Road going version on the front cover Sports Car Graphic I think, have to dig it out, remember the Scarab was also the centrespread picture which I gently removed and had on display, sadly that is missing now .. keep them coming Friend ..

Fact or fiction - Bruce McLaren's idols were Sir Jack Brabham #4 and Sir Stiring Moss #7 hence the race #47

    Frosty5,
That is how my father explained it to us many moons ago. I think it is a fact.

As I understand it the #4 used by Sir Jack was given to him by the lovely lady (Nairn?) who worked at NZIGP office. He was her favorite driver and #4 was her favorite number.

Three wonderful Kiwis who had to put up with my endless questions. Thanks guys. It was my pleasure.
    L. Bruce Thompson, C, Tony Nicholson (Robin Auto owner) and top race expert, Duncan Fox.

NZ driver Roger Williams and his beautifully prepared 1971 McLaren M8 E/F which he drove near the front in the morning race but unfortunately dropped out early in the later race with engine issues.
It was great to watch him in action.

LOVE the photos Ken. Keep them coming. I really need to get to this event one of these days.

Re the Roger Williams McLaren, here is why the car was repainted red/white. Its the old Pete Sherman car. I read somewhere he was told he needed to take it back to its original colours to run Monterey.

    Laguna Seca. 2016.
Roger Williams leading Chris MacAllistar along the front straight where they reached speeds of up to 160 mph / 258 kmh which was outstanding to watch.

This is the very same car featured in the story An Unfair Advantage? that I posted on The Roaring Season a couple of months back. A hugely significant and successful car, owned by Tom McIntyre since the 1980s.
