On the FB page there are folks questioning why it was Continental and not called Lycoming, hmmm do you think the builder knew?
Lycoming and Continental are 2 separate beings. I believe the special is powered by Continental (Ex Cessna). How Lycoming came to be linked is a mystery??????
It was definitely a Continental when I saw it the first day it went to Ruapuna.
I suspect the discussion came about as both of the other well known aero engined cars (Ralph Watson and the RA) had Lycomings. Superficially there are similarities, ie flat engines, light, air cooled ex aircraft, but that's about where it stops.
