Big guess, they look like BMW bikes, so I think it must be in Berlin and the bit of track they are on looks like Avus.
Maybe celebrating the World Championship wins of BMW racing bikes?

Jeez...I thought that might have you stumped for more than half an hour. I have been to Avus on a number of occasions and must say that this is a magnificent sculpture...

    This shouldn't be too difficult.

Is that Des Hammill who later wrote 20-odd "How To..." books on a variety of tuning and engine-building topics, plus a book on Coventry Climax engines, and co-wrote a biography on Cyril Kieft. And a book on the Treaty of Waitangi, just in case we didn't already have enough.

Not to be confused with Denis Hamill from a few years earlier who raced saloons.

A note in the Kieft book says that Des Hammill was author of the Coventry-Climax book

Considering the Jamie Aislabie stuff up above, my pick it is him in the ex Colin Ngan bobtail, Pukekohe, Railway Corner circa 1964.

Didn't Doug Lawrence have a couple of Bobtails at the same time? Wasn't quite sure what and which emerged from that meld. I think an engine from one went into the Lola sportscar. Question is where is that Bobtail now?
