I remember it well. Drove overnight from Edgecumbe in an old Ford 10 to be there.

I am interested to see the name of the first person listed as a steward appointed by the NZIGP!

    ERC, Ray, so true -

    - I was talking to an old Motorsport guy over the weekend, well he is 81 and I am 78, he went to Pukekohe in 1963 and was at the last meeting in 2023. the " old guy " is a family friend and when we get together we talk cars trucks Motorsport - he remembers those crowds and being able to, even as a spectator see and even talk to the drivers of the era, the GP guys from England and Europe and the " Allcomer " Saloon boys, I was there from October 1965 on.

As a token - photo of a car of the time - the most well known Jaguar Mark 11 - think Steve Millen driving after Dave Silcock had raced it. - has big flares by now, think it is Pukekohe !

    Ardmore 1957, 1959 and 1960.

A group of photos from the New Zealand Grand Prix meetings which appeared in the NZGP Annuals - a publication I have not heard of.

    All from Graham Edney archives.

I joined the NZIGP in 1966, so I could get discounted tickets to the Grand Prix and the Wills Six Hour [ Gold Leaf 3 hour ] Race meetings, but I don't remember there being an Annual publication.
Other Pukekohe meetings were run by ACC and NSCC where from 1967 I got in as an NSCC member or worked as a Marshall while having to pay to go to ACC meetings.

1957 - Ron Roycroft in the now old 4.5 litre Ferrari [ ex Louis Rosier of France - hence the Pale " French " Blue colour, leads the field - he did for 8 laps.

1959 - In a blurry photo of the field at the start, they have just started.
    - The Lycoming Special at the left side and all the name GP drivers in the front row. It includes, Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham, Ron Flockhart, and locals like Johnny Mansel and Ron Roycroft.

The " B P Special 4498 cc " is actually the Ferrari 4.5 litre Grand Prix car and the R.J.R. Special 3442 cc for P Yendells - A Jaguar Motor - both entered by A J Roycroft.
