Not so much for the car, but the background. The Chelsea Sugar Works grounds have to be one of my favourite places on the North Shore.
The Satellite Special ran out of fizz on this run.
Ian manages to compete and video the event!

The well campaigned Alfriston Jaguar Special. One of the things I enjoy about period motoring is the proliferation of 'Specials'. Sadly, MSNZ regulations relating to classics, seem to be totally biased against a modern day period saloon special, even if built out of period parts.

The C type Jaguar replica was another car driven hard and sounding good.
Kevin's Wolseley Hornet special.
The BSA special as mentioned in an earlier post not only went well, but sounded fantastic and very, very smooth.
The Alfa was another being driven briskly.
This lovely Riley (Kestrel?) wasn't competing but came up the hill during a break.
Always nice to see Peter Morelli's thundering Bentley.

The number plate and chosen race number often tells the story. 1932 Sunbeam.
Some of the cars had insufficient power to display any real drama but great to see anyway.
This run of Roger's in the A40 special was affected by gear selection issues.
An MG stalwart in a Lotus 11 replica.
The Satellite Special going much better on this run. I was only there for two runs and several cars only ran once.
A lone Buckler this year.

I only saw the Chevrolet do 1 run.
Bugatti three wheeling.
I don't think the Riley Moth did the second run whilst I was there, but it is still one of my favourite cars. (Riley with a Gypsy Moth aero engine.)

That Riley is a well known car I have photos of it back in the late 60's early 70's at a couple of Vintage Car events .. must show my Uncle Eddie Dowding, will be seeing him next week .. will save it to my PC and show him !! cheers Ray, RogerOriginally Posted by ERC

Last race meeting of the year (for me) and I was only there for practice and race 1. TACCOCS' Spring meeting at Pukekohe, November 27th. Still coming to terms with the new camera's settings...
Dratted pics keep disappearing again... I click on 'edit post', click 'save' and they reappear, only to disappear again if returning to the board.... Giving up tonight. Will try again Monday...

Last set of pics for a while - off overseas for a couple of weeks, but unless I can get to the Petersen Museum, no more new pics this year and too busy to scan all the old stuff, though I might dredge up one or two scanned previously now and again. Time to do the annual back ups though.

Mallory Park 1974. I used to park myself at the hairpin exit all day as it was the only place on the circuit where you could use an old manual camera with a standard lens (ie no telephoto or long lens. Not even a range finder and no light meter. If only....)
May 1984 I believe.
I have this as possibly December 16th 1984 - but could be wrong. It might well be October 1984.

Part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed (2002) was for these downhill racers. A far cry from the original soap box carts.
Not everything in the London Car Museum was customised or of questionable taste.

This photo fascinates me. I guess these are Special Saloons Ray? The Mustang and Falcon Sprint are two old relics from the 1960s Group 5 era, now heavily modified in an attempt to remain comptitive. The Falcons were dominant in the British Saloon Car Championship in Group 5 because of their impossibly light homologation weight, which from memory was about 960kg. By chance would you happen to know who is driving the cars in the photo?

notice on description it says Corvette, it is actually John Windleburn in his home built Trans Am that he ran in Sports Sedans back in the mid to late 80's car had alot of potential and was nice build.
