He did it have it for a while, but I don't recall him using it much before selling it to the Baker brothers

Actually looking at Roy on the serious side he was not too bad at getting the job done ,I helped him at the wet Easter Bay Park meeting ,the same one the Aussie mini guys came over for ,it was a pouring wet day and was his first drive in the ex Tony Batchelor Brabham TC ,he did a dam good job and acquitted himself well that day, considering up to then most of his running had been on the hills

Ah - but not as good a job as fellow Rotorua driver Tony Baker in the Gemini

Yes ,got to agree with that one David ,that was a good drive by Tony that day ,and of course a few months later ,Roy's single seater aspirations were over after he crashed and badly damaged the Brabham at Pukekohe ,strange all the experts knew better ,nobody wanted to listen to me ,there was no way we should have been trying to run those tyres on that type of rim ,there was no safety lip to retain them if the pressures dropped, which is what happened

I wouldn't have minded Roy Lyme's Pukekohe "off" so much if he hadn't aimed the thing at my viewing spot inside Champion

Roy got badly burned, refuelling the Gemini I think but Jamie would know the details I'm sure. Possibly the reason why there was quite a time gap between running the Gemini and the Brabham.
I recall seeing a photo of Roy's crash at Puke, the fence posts went down like dominos.
Roy said later that Tony B. told him prior to the moment that Champion was flat in that car..... He also said that he had aimed it at David (joking).

It is, and was a bit of a give away given the Minimax is in the background having already started his run, especially given the ones on the 'max before.
I also have some stories from there, should be in Yards etc.

No I never take it for granted with photos , I know of at least three seperate old hillclimb venues out in the hills around here and to be honest sometimes its real hard to tell them apart with some photo shots even for me and I have lived here on and off for years

Yes BOB Bakers had an old Ford flat head v8 wrecker and I recon that,s it Jamie
